In Abby's defense, this game wasn't assigned to her. She came across it and decided to give it a whirl. That no one in the team (even Mike) knew about the game beforehand is a different problem with the site.

That said, Abby was unequipped to handle this game and QL and she probably should have shelved this video like GB does with other games they start recording a QL for but stop.

It's also a problem with going to play a game sight unseen and knowing nothing about it. I've been claiming for years that QL should be reworked into 2 types:
1. 'Quick Looks' which are really playing the game from the beginning or close to, usually not knowing much about it beforehand.

2. Longer form videos that go deeper into titles, when the person who's playing is hours into the game and can actually confidently talk, AND SHOW, what the game is, how it works, the mechanics in play and etc.

Hopefully Vinny covers Disco Elysium when he comes back. I'm sorry, but Abby couldn't even convey what the game is about, the genre and similar titles it might correspond to.

Because Giant Bomb is a generally Monday through Friday job.

Also, I would dispute your claim that "demand for content is highest" on the weekends, because many GB members are likely doing real-world weekend stuff with family and friends.

Also, I'm not sure why you think this game needs more air time in general. Brad pretty much said everything that can be said about Rogue Aces -- the only thing I would add is that the Campaign is a randomly-generated set of levels with no real cohesive connection (and that's another argument NOT to drag the QL on for longer than necessary).

I know their working days, that's why i wrote 'slotting'. My point is about scheduling of the content - if they have these sub-20 minutes QL and longer stuff, it's best to have the longer content going up on Saturday\Sunday because the weekend is naturally a gap where meaty content is welcome.

I didn't argue about this game needing a longer video. I don't really care about these short QL's. Feels like something done as an obligation or 'padding'. It's probably better not to record a QL if it's sub 20-minutes. There are enough enticing games that don't proper coverage.

Anyone else upset that these weekends QL always tend to be very short? Why do they keep slotting them in when demand for content is the highest?

Not to mention it seeming they are going through the motions to cover something when there are more that enough interesting, note-worthy recent releases out there.

Don't show Story missions on UPF because of streaming restrictions;
Don't show Story missions on the QL because you finished the game
...

I mean, if you're going to do a QL then at least put the dev's best foot forward which here i assume are the Campaign main story missions and let us assess the 'best' scenario.

And in general with QL of games the staff already finished you can do much better job setting up what you're going to show in order to illustrate the positives and negatives. You know, show rather than tell.

Every indie mp-focused game should launch together with a Free Weekend. I really don't get why they don't. It's a no-brainer decision. Exposes your game to everybody, get people to play it who would be oblivious to it otherwise, you see the game as it's designed to be, better chance to get people to buy the game after the weekend.

Put your best foot forward.

Is Dan trying to speedrun this quick look? 20-minute video for Survival game? Just don't bother then. Let the East Coast guys do it because they actually seem to give time and do a proper rundown of a game.

West Coast's way too literal approach of 'Quick Looks' is probably my number one complaint against Giant Bomb.
