Man. They really do try to railroad the player into a romantic subplot in ME1. Being even a little bit nice to any eligible character basically signals that you are DTF, and forces the player into awkwardly shutting down a romance they never asked for. Thankfully, Bioware got a little better about this stuff by ME2...

Love to see Alex rolling with Garrus and Wrex. They're the coolest dudes.

I'm bummed. Anthem could very well be cool, I don't know. EA's presentation did the game no favors. I wish they'd done a real deep dive like Bethesda did a few E3s ago for Fallout 4. But maybe there's just not enough game there yet?

I dunno about this one. Even apart from Quantic Dream's release history, the "but are robots people?" premise has been so exhaustively done now that you really have to throw a curveball to make it worthwhile to do it again in 2018. It reminds me of that E3 podcast where Austin Walker questioned if David Cage knew other people had done this stuff before.

The thing I appreciated about Neir: Automata is that it didn't just re-litigate the same thematic questions around AI rights that were asked and answered decades ago. Yes, we all agree that sentient AIs embody some aspects of humanity, and should be afforded similar rights and considerations! Neir took that end point as a starting point, then went different places.

I know Dan is deliberately winding up the audience, but every time I hear him gloating about scamming his way through college, I want to punch a wall.

On the drive down to college for my freshman year, my dad turned to me and basically said, "You're not going to a historically black college so there'll probably be no one in your classes who looks like you. That's because few of us have the opportunities that I worked my ass off to give you. So don't fuck it up." In my experience, a lot of other black students I knew also approached college like they were representing their entire race, and took it deadly serious as a result.

Hopefully that doesn't sound overly superior, it's not how I intend it at all. I was just taught that college is serious business. Even a decade later, it blows my mind that people actually go to college to fuck around.

Austin is so good at DMing. I'm consistently in awe, in these yearly specials and on Friends at the Table.

Train snakes are the new undead pirates.
