Spenserian Sonnet!

Here's my attempt at writing one. The rhyme scheme is ababbcbcc, it is only 9 lines long. It was actually kind of hard building the whole thing off of so few rhymes. The first 8 lines are Iambic pentameter (10 syllables per line, I'm not very good with the whole stress, unstress thing though) and the last line is an Alexandrine (12 syllables).

So yeah, hope whoever reads it enjoys it :D

Shhh! Quiet, quiet. These woods are all mine.

The prey, a white doe, evasive is she.

Around, bloated birds lay in a neat line.

Lo, trees weep bitterly for the lovely

Doe. She trips through decayed brush toward me,

The leaves green at her touch. Pure. Quoth the beasts,

“Beware the bow fair doe!” Unheedingly

She sits, weary. My arrow is released.

It kills. She is mine. The forest weeps while I feast.

The Politics of the Classroom.

A General Proclamation

Be warned, this has been conjured by a sleep deprived mind. Read at your own risk. Whoever reads, I hope you don't find it too scattered. Above all else, I hope you at least get a small amount of enjoyment through reading it. I know I didn't get everything but I tried to get the major points.

In the spoiler is a summation of terminology if anyone is confused(seems some people may be)

Crude and Quick summation of terminology for anyone confused:

Vassal - Serves a Lord.

Continent - Your college/university/school

Territory - A classroom/lecture hall. Multiple means different classrooms etc.

Supreme Ruler - Principle or President of the College/University

Plebe - Basically a peasant/common person. Short for Plebeian

Council of Lords - Teacher/Professor's conference room

Hope that clarifies a bit.

Hail Denizens!

Be it known my fellow people, that it has been declared through the Council of the States in the city of Washington that the ruler of said classroom(s) has considerable power over his/her subjects. This power over you, his/her subjects, may be extended without limit as he/she deems fit as long as it is within the confines of what is considered right and good by the moral standards set forth by Higher Powers. The powers wielded by your most glorious ruler, whom is now to be known as "Professor" are confined as well. This confinement pertains to the area within the limits of the territory known as the "classroom". In other regions, foreign to those who know the classroom it is known as a "lecture hall". This hall serves as the Professor's court, in which he/she deals out retribution and punishment for the wicked and unjust deeds of his servants, may his judgements be based on wisdom and righteousness. Furthermore, the plebes and those of lower status shall receive tasks, they are to achieve these tasks to the Professor's satisfaction and within the course of time deemed acceptable and appropriate. Failure to comply will result in defamation of the offender's reputation and if failure is persistent, the offender will be anathema.

On Vassals and Lords

The goodly members of the Council of Washington, those who have been appointed by our own hands, have declared these Professors may also be known as Lords and we as their humble subjects. These Lords, if in the land that considers the territory a "lecture hall" may also have Vassals, known as Assistants, if they are of considerable power and have many subjects to rule over. To these Vassals they may entrust the declaration or profession of their laws, the meting out of justice and the declaration of tasks to be completed. One Lord may have many Vassals and Vassals may have many Lords and may also be subject to tasks, punishment and so forth. A Vassal may by no means be considered the equal to a Lord, nay, a Vassal is one of lesser standing. Neither truly a Lord nor truly a Plebe.

On The Office of Lordship and The Supreme Ruler

A Lord is one with considerable power, yes, but this power is subject to review under the Council of Lords. Each specific Country has a separate Council of Lords. This Council is one in which Lords may surrender territories, wars are settled and declared, treaties are made and courses of action regarding the country as a whole are debated and decided. This Council also serves as a balance so that one Lord may never abuse the power he/she is given. Furthermore, all Councils are presided over by the Supreme Ruler. The Supreme Ruler is one in which all powers of every country contained within the Continent in question are vested. He has the power to declare that a Lord is to be anathema, expelled, defamed and subject to exile.

On The Role of Plebes

Plebes are subject to the rule of the Lord. They are subject to his judgement, his laws, his declarations and his justice. A plebe supports his Lord and serves him through working in designated areas within a given territory. This work ultimately leads to greater productivity on the part of the plebe when he is given a task to complete. Upon completion of the task, the plebe is either rewarded or defamed in the eyes of the Lord. The ability to achieve tasks in a goodly, wholesome and earnest manner is pivotal to the survival of the plebe. Failure to complete a given task to satisfaction results in the plebe being subject to whatever justice the Lord sees fit within the confines of what is considered moral and just by the various Councils and the Supreme Ruler. Those caught stealing, leeching or any act that may be considered such, are loathsome beings who will be judged by a panel of Judiciary Lords. Justice shall be meted out as is seen fit. A plebe must also undergo various tests of his/her knowledge of what the Lord has deemed necessary for their survival in lands beyond the Continent. Failure to complete the tests will make the plebe subject to the justice of the Lord as is seen fit. Furthermore, within the territories deemed "classrooms" a Lord may send a plebe to be punished by the Supreme Ruler, this is generally a result of offenses that are not fit to be mentioned within this document. Suffice to say, such actions are spawned through the errors of the plebe. Only the most grievous of faults will be brought up before the Supreme Ruler.

For All Of Those Considering LOTR War In The North (Wall Of Text)

Here is my review of it:

Let me start this review by stating that I am in no way a Lord of the Rings fanboy. Though I do love the world of Middle-Earth and I am one of those people who is a sucker for swords n' sorcery RPG games. I will do my best to look at the game's strengths and flaws in an objective manner regardless. The review will be structured as follows: Story, Gameplay, Visuals and Audio.

The story is meant to run parallel to the story of the original Lord of the Rings books/movies but it is wholly unrelated to them. As one may be led to believe, there is a war in the northern territories of Middle-Earth and you are placed in the role of one of three heroes. The first hero is a Dwarf called Farin (warrior class), a Human called Eradan (ranger class) and an Elf called Andriel (mage class). There really is not much to say about their respective backgrounds because not much is revealed about them. Regardless of your character choice your chosen character will start his/her story in the town of Bree. There you will talk to the rugged and shifty eyed Aragorn who gives you your first quest, which is to provide a distraction for him. Essentially, you will come in contact with many of the heroes/characters from the original Lord of the Rings stories as you progress throughout the 9-12 hour campaign. In addition to familiar faces such as Arwen, Aragorn, Gimli and Frodo you will also come in contact with new characters such as a Dragon, talking eagles, a talking spider (yeah, a talking spider!), two dwarf brothers and two elf brothers (this game seems to have a fixation with brothers). I will admit, the character you choose to play as does not have much of a personality, although you may customize him/her at any point throughout the game by going to designated points within the "base" towns (such as the customization area in the Bree tavern). Your main goal throughout the story is to defeat Agandaur, who is Sauron's "right hand man" in the North. All three characters are present regardless of your choice at all times (in combat, in cutscenes etc) although the character you choose is the one who initiates the dialogue (there are dialogue trees but your choice of dialogue does not have much of an impact on anything).

Overall the combat feels visceral and gratifying. If you're looking for a game where you can lop the limbs off of goblins and orcs then this is the game for you. There isn't much strategy involved in the combat but I'm not sure who would purchase an Action RPG game looking for intellectual stimulation. You will run through level after level encountering groups of different enemies (such as giant orcs with shields, orc mages (when did they get smart enough to use magic?) and spiders (these come in both the little bastard and big bastard variety)) and dispatching them by hacking off their heads, arms and legs (although you cannot remove the limbs from the spiders, sorry arachnophobes) and watching the resulting fountain of black ichor spew forth (everything bleeds black except for your character). Though some game review sites have found the combat redundant, I cannot say that I have and I have played through the game three separate times. How can one not enjoy brutally hacking an orc's head off in slow-motion? This gory aspect is what separates this game from the pantheon of other Lord of the Rings games. There are critical hits involved in the combat, combos and finishing moves that can be triggered by simply tapping the "Y" button when there is a yellow icon over an enemy's head. There truly is nothing more satisfying then taking down a troll by ramming your weapon into its head and watching it "fart" out loot. (yeah that is an immature comparison but that is what it looks like, loot "pops" out of the troll's body). This leads me to another aspect, the loot. There is a good amount of loot to be found throughout the game, be it in chests, spouting from the bodies of defeated enemies, in piles of rubbish down a side path, in barrels, rewards for side quests and in shops. You can also find herbs to combine to create potions if you're a mage.

In addition to the main story line there are a few side-quests scattered throughout the game world. These additional side missions are few and far between (maybe 2-4 per town) and depending on the quest. Sometimes you get great rewards (5000% degradation reduction and added stats) or crappy rewards (50 gold). The great rewards surpass the crappy ones, which is nice and the great rewards add an incentive to actually do the quests to see whether you get an eye poppingly awesome weapon/armor modification or a negligible amount of gold from an ungrateful NPC.

Your weapons/armor/amulets/rings have stats and you can find better weapons etc through shops that can be found throughout the missions or you have the option (through the "in mission" shops) to travel back to the "base" town in order to check out the shops, sell your goods and repair your weapons (your weapons and armor degrade over time and must be repaired by a blacksmith, who can be found in "base" towns). The weapons can also cause additional fire damage, ice damage, shock damage, stun, deep wound damage and more. You can modify your weapons and armor (if they have slots) with Elf Stones.

The one significant difference between the basic play style (excluding skills) of the three characters is the type of weapons they can use. The Dwarf is the little tank/damage dealer that can use two handed weapons or a sword and shield for melee combat and a crossbow for ranged combat. The Human can dual wield and use two-handed weapons (as far as I know, I haven't played through the game as this class yet) and a bow and the Elf uses magic for ranged attacks and can dual wield (with a stave and 1 handed weapon). Regardless of your character type you can rush into combat head-on and generally come out only moderately bruised (yay health potions!).

There is a level cap (40) and this is reached through, you guessed it, dispatching hoards of foes. When your character levels up, you can level up their abilities (Strength, Will, Stamina (or HP) and Dexterity) and you get a skill point (generous system) to put into one of three skill trees that are character specific. Leveling up to max level requires one to play through the game on all three of the difficulty settings, the higher the difficulty the harder the enemies will be to dispatch. At no point throughout the second or third playthrough will you find yourself overwhelmed by the difficulty.

Skills are activated through a combination of either the Right or Left Trigger and one of the letter buttons (such as LT+B, RT+Y and so on). There are also "ranged" skills which can be activated through either the Right Bumper or Left Bumper and a letter button (LB +Y and so on). The skills look great, especially the mage skills and certain skills, when initiated at the right time, can be battle changing. Imagine being gang raped by a group of orcs then suddenly blowing them away or into chunks. That is the kind of joy you will get from some of the mage skills (as you can tell I played primarily as a mage). When you use a skill you use up some of your "power"(mana), which can be replenished through either regeneration (slow) or through power potions.

Visually, sometimes this game doesn't shine very well. If you come to this game expecting gorgeous facial animations like the kind found in LA Noire or other Triple A titles you may be disappointed. That being said, the world looks nice, though not dazzlingly beautiful. Rivendell stands out in my mind as having a great view in particular though. Throughout the game you will come across a plethora of different environments, from dense woods to misty barrows, all of which look fairly good. I did not notice any sub-par texturing or lackluster character modeling. Keep in mind that even though I am praising the visuals, this is no Gears of War 3 or Battlefield 3, so do not expect to be jaw droppingly awed by anything visual in this game. It looks good, but it is by no means on the same level as some other titles out there. Regardless of this, you can expect to see some really great looking environments and some good character models (especially the dragon and the eagles).

The voice acting in spots is somewhat mediocre but overall I have no complaints about it. I will say that I particularly enjoyed the deep booming voice that was used for the Dragon. The clash of weapons sounds nice, the sound track is great and epic sounding (although sometimes epic music is playing when you're doing nothing but running through an area, which is not so epic) and the squelch as you lop off a head/limb is gruesomely pleasing.

There is also online play but I cannot say anything about it because I have not been able to find a game. Curse you Triple A titles..curse you..

Overall, if you're looking for a fun Hack N Slash Action RPG to fill up some time while you eagerly bite your nails counting down the days until Skyrim is released then you will find that this game is a fun, enjoyable and pleasingly gruesome romp through the world of Lord of the Rings.

In conclusion I give this game 4 orc heads out of 5.

My Time With Lord Of The Rings: The War In The North.

I was fairly excited when I heard about this game. I promptly pre-ordered it as soon as I could and eagerly waited for the date of release to arrive. I finally got it, only to be pissed off because I had too many assignments due that day for me to sit down and play it. The following day, I saw my chance and took it "Carpe Diem" style. So my first impression was that while not great, the graphics were fairly decent. I was disappointed (playing in co-op) that my friend couldn't pick the same class that I had picked. One of us had to be a dwarf and one had to be a human ranger (I got to be class I wanted to be anyway). I wasn't expecting customization but this limiting of choices severely handicaps the local co-op gameplay. Warning: Pick a friend who is easily manipulated into choosing the thing you want him/her to choose for the best local co-op experience.

After selecting our characters we watched the load screen, which gave us some inane hints (as per usual). Now, finally we got to the gameplay aspect. The screen is split straight down the center, no option for horizontal screen splitting in sight. Eh, I can deal with this, I shrug off the annoyance of missing half of the TV and catching the movements of my friend's character out of the corner of my eye while I play. The combat is brutal (not as brutal as Dead Island though), arms, legs and heads will be removed with resulting blood splatters hitting the floor and environment. Yay, finally I can dismember orcs and goblins my life is complete! Yeah? Yeah? You think? Well, yeah. Although blocking is fairly difficult and if you were to be swarmed be enemies you would be in very deep trouble. Getting gang-raped by a swarm of pug faced goblins kind of trouble. I have not seen the option for a counterattack ability, which strikes me as odd because the game sorely needs it. You can roll out of the way of attacks but that is not very effective when there are goblins/orcs surrounding you. Overall, if you do not enjoy button mashing, control your desire to punish some orcs and wait for another LOTR game. Oh, you can also use your bow/crossbow (if you're a human/dwarf) and there are skill trees, though they are not very extensive or impressive. The mage, as far as I can tell, can shoot magic projectiles that look like orbs of light. She can also cast spells that create a Halo style bubble shield that heals party members when they are in it.

The weapons are varied, clubs, hatchets, swords, two-handed swords and the like. Typical fair for a Hack N' Slash Hybrid RPG..thing. There are also shields that you can use as well. There are different armor types, which degrade as do the weapons over use/time (I haven't figured out which yet). Regardless, all the variations of duel wielding feel the same, it doesn't matter if you're wielding a cleaver and a sword or a mace and a cleaver (you get the idea).

But I digress..

After plowing through around two hours of the story, we have some nice weapons and shiny armor. Then the game freezes. Amongst a haze of various swears we reset the 360 only to find that my friend's character somehow got ahead of mine by 7 "sections" (Each chapter is divided into sections). How did this happen if we have been playing together the whole time? No clue. So we play on my story (your character can't play with another character in local co-op if his story progression is further then yours otherwise the game won't save). After spending another hour hacking down orcs, trolls (yeah they have them in this game too!) and some boss like orc commander we pass the chapter. I have the option to either return to Bree (your home base) or..play through the chapter again. No option to go to the next area. We try my friend's save game, his story progresses perfectly fine (my game doesn't save due to the aforementioned reason). We try my game again, same problem. So, I decide I'll just restart my character (traded my friend's character all the goods in my inventory) and my friend's level 10 dwarf can help me get through the chapter. Upon starting the new game his character is a level 1, no armor, no weapons, nothing in his inventory. I saved my game in the current save slot, he chose his character and saved it as well. Apparently, when the game asks if you want to "save game in current slot" it really means, "Erase your hard work and start over bitch".

With that, we gave up (for now). Utterly defeated by this weird occurrence. It is disappointing because the story is actually fairly intriguing (and there is a talking eagle! Don't deny it, you know you want to see it talk). Well, maybe I'll give it another try when my classes are done.

Overall though, I was really enjoying the game itself. :(

Update: There actually is character customization (It is set all the way in off in a corner of the tavern you start out in but it is not mentioned at all at any point).

Update #2: After that initial odd occurrence the game has been running smoothly and I love it :D

Elegy :D

This was meant to be in the same style as Marlowe's "The Passionate Shepherd and His Love". Obviously my structuring isn't too great if looked at as an elegy (maybe I should have changed the title) because I have alternating line lengths that aren't consistent :(.

Oh well, I tried my best.

Comment: Your best isn't good enough!

Yeah well..

I happened [stumbled] upon her one day,

Clad in a muddied dress, in disarray.

Damsel why on this floor dost thou lie?

Reply, I am alive? I am ali-

Deaden thy waggling tongue fair maid

Such babble thou spews forth! Her mumblings fade.

I have but one request to make of thee,

I am lost in thy beauty. Decay. [Me].

Come live with me! This, my sole inquiry,

In forbidden love we shall live merrily.

We will drain the green from bloated mounds,

Sit upon rocks of lover’s gone, no bounds.

I will make thee a bed of black poppies

And burnt orange lilies, they will not freeze

In callous night, they will survive. [Survive]

Unlike before, only now will our love thrive.

Reply, I am alive I am ali-

A hollow, frigid, unfeeling reply,

Quoth I with frustration. Rosy leaves

Run down thy dress in a neat line. [Disease].

Silence your vain angry interjections

Confounded mind! I see no reflections

Of myself in her weary clouded eyes,

Nor do I feel any warmth in her thighs.

Nor care I. The day is cold. I am old.

She loves me. My promises have her sold.

Her skeletal hands do gracefully move

As she says, Come live with me, be my love.

What I thought of Paranormal Activity 2 and Cannibal Holocaust

Paranormal Activity 2

I have seen the original Paranormal Activity and I thoroughly enjoyed the intensity of the mood and the subtle, creepy occurrences that led to a great climax. This sequel ties into the original and builds on its suspense and creepiness in all of the best ways.

For those of you that state, "this movie is not scary" or some such jargon, you should know that this movie is not your typical horror movie. This kind of horror is the kind that requires an attention span greater than that of a five year old suffering from ADD, it also requires close attention to details. The images of the rooms are not quite as they appear if you pay close attention. That is all I will say so as to avoid spoiling any of the movie for anyone reading this review.

The story, as stated, ties into the original quite well. The characters are well developed and they really draw you into their story. The camera, as with the first, resembles homemade video footage. In addition to this there is also footage from security cameras placed at various points throughout the property/house. . This is generally fairly effective in regard to building the viewers sense of anticipation and tension, although at a few points in the film I found myself wishing that the camera was steadier. This is a minor complaint and more often than not I found myself pasted to the screen, holding my breath and waiting with anticipation to see how the story would unfold.

The acting is fairly well done as well. I don't know what other people are talking about when they complain about it. The actors did an amazing job at capturing the "real" feel of the characters in the movie and I have no complaints whatsoever in this regard.

There are scares to be had here but if you're looking for something like Insidious or other movies that rely on "jump out at you" scares then you will likely be disappointed. The scares here are the kind that make the viewer feel unsettled and sends shivers up the spine of those who still have some form of an imagination left.

I recommend to those who wish to see this movie that they bring with them a modicum of patience and an active imagination. The more active your imagination is the more fun you will have watching this.

There really isn't much else I can say without wrecking the movie, suffice to say that if you're looking for an unsettling ghost movie that slowly builds suspense than this movie will mostly likely be for you. If you are of the frame of mind that a horror movie needs gore, blunt and overdone scare tactics and nudity then this movie will not be for you.

I also recommend viewing the first Paranormal Activity before viewing this one because knowledge of the first one makes this movie even more unsettling.

Scale of 1-10: 8.5

Cannibal Holocaust

Where to begin..

The plot is probably already known to whoever is reading this so I won't waste words explaining it. Suffice to say that I was wholly unimpressed with it. It was not creative nor original. I was not compelled to think about society and it's morals, rather, I was compelled to think about society in regard to how one could possibly call this amateur attempt at film-making a "movie".

Acting: What acting? I am all for attempting to capture realism and so forth in a movie but I am appalled that some other reviewers deemed the acting anything more than abysmal. It felt as if the actors were reading their lines off of a TelePrompter rather than having memorized them and recited them with passion and conviction.

Dialogue: Let me start out with this statement: I do enjoy 80's action movies and so forth and as such I don't mind corny one-liners, somewhat cheesy, bad dialog and what not. This movie elevated the definition of cheesy to new extremes. The dialog sounded like a fourteen year old who has a D for a grade in English class had written it. Normally, in a decent movie the dialog is meant to illicit some form of emotion, serve as a vehicle for character and plot development and so on. In this movie, I would say it detracted from the experience. Whenever one of the "actors" (though I find it offensive to put them in the same category as credible actors) reads a line and spews it forth it comes off as contrived and unbelievable, not that it isn't to begin with but that is beside the point.

"Special Effects": Well, if you enjoy movies that don't even qualify as B grade horror than you may enjoy this. I was looking at the display to see how far into the movie I was because though some scenes were brutal, I found them utterly ridiculous and boring. The special effects (if one would go so far as to call them that, as they lacked any semblance of "special" and barely qualified as "effects") were fairly atrocious. I won't spoil the killings for the reader but I WILL say that as stated before, I found them banal and ridiculous.

Entertainment Value: Seeing as I am an individual and tastes vary I won't make any broad claims but I found the movie to be nothing but an exercise in pointlessness. Watching this movie is like watching a child pull the wings off of a fly and then burn the fly and watch it writhe in agony before finally stepping on it. To anyone who finds that entertaining, Its like watching a group of adults who are drunk play "Scene It" and act out the scenes from the movies then drinking some more and attempting to hack apart a chicken. After hacking apart said chicken they then proceed to play with the organs and laugh hysterically whilst trying to appear serious and menacing.

That is what I experienced when watching this movie. Some may see this as a masterpiece but I see it as nothing more than a black hole that sucks viewers in and spits them out 90 minutes later wondering what just happened and lamenting the 90 minutes of their life that was wasted.

Scale of 1-10: 4

(Mock) Review of Life

Warning: Wall of Text Ahead. Also, I tried to cover all the aspects but there are FAR too many to include and I realize I probably missed a large amount of them. I hope whoever reads the whole thing enjoys it!

Life is a MMORPG that is on a scale that is larger and more intricate than any other game on the market to date. The style is generally that of the Sims except there are more options, more quests, more traits, significantly improved graphics and beautiful character models. One unfortunate casualty amongst these improvements is that the developers have chosen to make all of the aspects regarding character creation randomized, thus restricting the choices of the player. This is not the developer entitled G.O.D by some and simply Nature by others first outing in the market of MMORPGs. They have released two more MMORPGs in the past entitled, " Triassica and Cretaceon Sim" and "Troglodyte Sim". Both are perfect examples of what happens when a developer rushes to complete a game. The two aforementioned games were essentially unplayable and eventually completely forgotten except for when spoken of in hushed whispers amongst gaming communities.

The story of Life is highly non-linear so I honestly find it hard to review this game on that front. Suffice to say that your choices are somewhat limited based on a game mechanic known as "The Natural Lottery". This mechanic generates a character's appearance, place of origin, the time period your character exists in, his/her personality traits, their statistics, their status in the societal and economical structure, class and the skills that are most suited for them. I did experience a glitch that was said to be common, which resulted in an obscenely grotesque character appearance that could be considered nothing less than an abomination but the developers force players to play as that character. Though this may feel as if the developers are wrestling all choices away from players, there are options to change your character's appearance to a degree. Your character must rely upon other players' until he/she reaches a Level of 18 and in some instances even longer depending on your character's skills and personality traits. I can't say I am particularly pleased with this factor of dependence that is foisted upon the player right from the get-go but you are not forced to maintain contact with the "parent" players, which gives the player at least some choice. In addition to parent players, you are also borne into a group of other players called a "Family", which you may leave as well. Each player has a randomly generated amount of time they are allotted to play when they are assigned a class.

Like any other traditional RPG, you are presented with a seemingly innumerable amount of fetch quests/menial tasks in order to achieve a goal. You can complete those goals solo, in co-op or with a group. This is accomplished through a very traditional party system, which is essentially walking up to other characters and asking them if they want to join your party. Sometimes the groups you get into are horrific and end up doing nothing but messing up your quests and being detrimental to your progress. There is no "party search" system, which leads the ambitious player into endless hours of frustration if he/she gets in the wrong group. PvP mode is active at all times and players are always competing with one another to achieve their goals. There is a leaderboard that tracks the overall "Cash" each player in the game world has. The more cash you have, the more your character will be able to progress his/her skills and advance in the societal structure. Cash is also a fundamental part of the economic structure of the game and its value fluctuates based on your character's place of origin and the time period your character exists in. Each task/event within the game has certain consequences that are apparent at one point or another at some point during your playtime.

There are varying classes that you are randomly assigned to at the start via the aforementioned engine. You have randomly generated stats and abilities to which you can add skill points to. Certain actions such as driving your car head-on into another player's car may subtract points for a certain or definitive amount of time (sorry guys this is no GTA IV). The amount of classes available is seemingly endless, although they all fit into one of a few basic categories: Doctors(which includes researchers and the like), Engineers (which includes architects and such), Educators (teachers), Artists (musicians, writers, programmers, designers and so forth), Hobos and the Insane (pretty much a zombie class) . Players do not start their game out as hobos but if their Cash level reaches below what it costs to live, then the character will lose everything and be forced to become the bane of all MMOs, "The Beggar"(AKA the "Hobo" class). Thankfully, such players are not found in many of the areas that your character originates from. There are also players who are labeled as "Criminals" and these players are found everywhere. The only purpose of "Criminals" is to make other players miserable and scam/steal from them. Also because the game is constantly in PvP mode they tend to kill other players, which is frowned upon amongst the rest of the community in most cases. Such actions are generally researched by moderators/administrators and when caught the "Criminal" players will either be placed in a confinement area for varying degrees of "Time" or they will be banned permanently from the server. Each class has a specific set of stats that the player may increase through leveling up and different educational outlets.

The world is enormous and consists of stunning views that are highlighted by the dazzling graphics. The only exception is if your character suffers from the "poor eyesight" trait, then you have to buy a clothing item called, "Glasses". There is also a glitch that results in lack of audio or lack of video for the game and the developers have wiped their hands of the problem stating that it is the fault of the player. Players have yet to figure out how to avoid this glitch. Random events are generated by the engine and some events you can choose a response to and some you can't. Many of the random events may or may not directly impact your character. The weather system is stunning and encompasses everything from natural disasters to snowy days depending on the game's integrated season system. All players beyond level 8 serve as quest givers (a new system specially designed for this game). The quests depend on your class, level, societal status and economic status.

As with many other MMOs, there is the option to chat to other players. This is usually a requirement if you want to excel at Life. The controls are smooth, although sometimes they are frustrating and clumsy. This is especially noticeable when your character is a level 1. "Time" is an important aspect of the game. Much like in games such as Dead Rising, players have varying degrees of time allotted to them in o der to accomplish whatever goals they wish to achieve. Once a player's "Time" is up the game ends. How the player spends that time depends on the individual. The amount of time may also end when the players life points reach 0, which results in death. In this regard, the game is punishingly unforgiving because there are no saves and no respawns. Like most other games, the game of Life is more enjoyable and easier to complete when played in Co-Op or with Groups but choose your partner(s) carefully because each wrong choice takes its toll on your "sanity" meter. These points are randomly assigned by "The Natural Lottery". There are other acts/events in the world that can either add to or take away from your total "sanity" points as well. Once these points are totally gone your character will change classes and join the "Insanity" class. This results in being institutionalized for the rest of your playtime by moderators or administrators in most cases.

The company that released this game has a questionable track record and there was a large amount of controversy surrounding this game's release because of it's ridiculous price. As a result, some consumers may decide that the game is not worth it and simply opt-out of the experience. Overall though I feel as if the game's flaws are outweighed by the incredible progress the developer has made since their last two attempts to make a game. If you're looking for a somewhat entertaining and different experience in regard to MMOs then this game is for you. Even gamers who generally do not like MMOs will find something to enjoy in this game. So, here is to Life because even with its flaws it is still a fun and enjoyable game!

Poem I have been working on.

I don't have a title. Any HELPFUL criticisms would be..well..helpful. I edited a few lines. Decided it actually did sound better without some of the lines.

I consist of pages both yellow and musty,

I am easy to read yet hard to decipher,

Cheap to buy yet left on the shelf dusty.

My spine is dry and decaying,

My cover is battered and torn,

Unfit for displaying.

My pages reveal everything

About nothing

And-

I know, I know

The other book is divine.

Newly minted with glossy white pages.

The Time's bestseller

And I am left, worn out in all stages.

Reduced to but one page,

The rest ride the breeze with sails in tatters

Or lay in piles of ashes scattered.

The results of the encroaching deterioration

That seeps into my matter,

Viscous and grey.

The one page crumbles away.

Now I am the empty book,

Not yours and never mine.

The glue, long dried, crumbles

And relinquishes its hold on my spine.

Now in quiet defeat I am lost

Amongst my dear wooden friends who

Clothe oppress and inflame me.

Now in the fire I see

With absolute clarity

That all is sublime in my reality.

The Games I have Spent The Most Time Playing!

Gears of War 2- 360 Hours (I shit you not)

Battlefield Bad Company 2 - 156 Hours

Dead Island - 84 Hours

Fallout New Vegas - 65 hours

Mafia II - 36 Hours

Mortal Kombat - 34 Hours

Gears of War 3 - 25 Hours

Red Dead Redemption and Oblivion - 22 hours

FEAR 3 - 19 hours

Crimson Alliance 17 Hours

This doesn't take into account the time I have played both Oblivion and Fallout: New Vegas before I signed on for Raptr.

I also question the accuracy because some games that it says I have only played for 1 hour I KNOW I played for longer than that.

What games have you guys played the most? (if you're reading this)
