Yeah, I too didn't understand the initial pitch for this but I'm loving it, especially because i'm basically in Bakalar's chair for most of this XD Love it!
an FPGA chip is a processor that can act like other processors, like the ones in classic consoles. This is cool because it makes games run exactly right, as if they're played on actual hardware. So in that sense it's better than emulation.
The MiSTer is a little board with an FPGA chip on it. Kind of like a Raspberry Pi or an Arduino board if you know what those are. Basically the MiSTer is a tiny computer that hobbyists have made this amazing retro game system around.

Wow, this game is NOT friendly for the colorblind. By the time I see the difference between the green and yellow, it already dropped to the bottom of the well.
The blocks need icons in them, like a ton of color-based puzzlers have.
