Good job Abby! Tough mission and it being a surprise definitely makes it tougher. Think it would be a bit better if they gave you a resupply midway through so you could get rockets and grenades back for anyone who has them.
I feel like this is the peak difficulty of the game btw, other random missions might be tougher just because certain squad members are in the hospital or whatever but this one is always tough. If you guys can build up a decent squad again then you'll be on the road to victory.
@andrewj71: I mean, to me dismiss soldier means you're getting rid of them and it seems pretty obvious, if it was just getting them off the squad then why would there even be a confirmation popup when it's such a trivial thing? The fact that very few complaints about the game are "I fired all of my guys and lost the game" means that not many people accidentally dismissed their guys like Dan did. Even Alex is like "wtf" at Dan, in his defense he had just taken a month and a half break from the game but still, you'd think reading a popup would be a thing to do in that case.
@eloj: I mean, they got messed up in that last video but at least they understood they'd messed up right as they activated the second pod and then they tried to salvage a bad situation, they never went "this is bullshit. The game is so janky and unfair".
Seems like Abby has drawn the short straw again in terms of unfortunate placement of missions and episodes. Dan gets an extraction mission and then.... well some stuff will happen on the episode after. Looking forward to this.
Why are they still bringing the default LMGs on missions? I'm pretty sure they researched all the laser weapons (in fact aren't they up to plasma?), why haven't they manufactured some laser LMGs?
That's one of my favourite changes Xcom 2 made, there are a lot more weapons to upgrade but once you research them they automatically apply to your entire crew. There's no need to manufacture and unequip/equip them each mission.
Ah see I hated that. Made the upgrades seem so much more expensive since generally you'd only be bringing one of a gun on a mission anyway (especially once the DLC and War of the Chosen got added) since there were now the experimental weapons, Sparks and then the extra classes added in WotC. You're basically paying 150 supplies to upgrade assault rifles and then usually only bringing one per mission, maybe two if you have a psychic. I always lagged behind on buying weapons in Xcom 1 because I was cheap and made up for it with research into other stuff and gadgets, then capturing dudes to get the free light plasmas which slingshotted me up, I liked that there were different options like that.
@spedstyle: He dismissed them from X Com all together when he was setting up the squad for the mission.
You click clear unit from the lineup to get them out of the squad. If you click into the unit and then select "Dismiss soldier" and then ignore the big red warning popup that warns you that you're going to remove them permanently like Dan and Vinny did then you get what happened last video. I dunno why the option is there and so prominent really, only reason I can think of is if a soldiers had their will shredded and you want to get rid of them. It does give you a warning though so you can't blame the UI too much for them just clicking stuff.
Maaaaan, they got so lucky. Why did the mind controlled mec not take a shot when it was the aliens turn? I was expecting the overwatch to kill their own mec tbh haha.
Well, Gita Jackson, secret agent extraordinaire and pistol expert.... had a good run before being fired unceremoniously because her commanding officer messed up on the paper work.
