Can you think of a game that you don't like despite being able to recognize that its parts are totally solid? Or, said differently: What's a game that you don't like even though on paper you should totally love it?

I think the Call of Duty series looks totally solid and I should like it, but the mechanics don't work for the me. The "run this way and follow this dude," thing isn't attractive gameplay. I am totally down for ARMA, as convoluted and obtuse as those systems can be, and sometimes ARMA may have you checking map points and radios, etc, but the basic mechanic may still boil down to "run this way and follow this dude," with a larger sandbox-type world around it. Is that the difference? I'm not sure, but my experience has me more satisfied with ARMA vs COD.
