In this neverending sea of emotional platformers and walking sims, I've always been a firm believer in the fact that real games have guns in them. By my calculations, Enter the Gungeon is the most realest game.
This game actually has a surprising amount of depth to it. Different move sets for field and duel phase, some characters have multiples stances. There's straight up the focus attack from SF4 including being able to dash cancel out of it. I don't know if Jeff played through the tutorial or not (which is pretty great for a fighting game) but there's a lot going on. No disrespect to the crew but this probably isn't the best representation of the game. I've never even been a Pokemon fan but I'm really enjoying it.
As someone who still has some affinity for Pokemon, this game looks pretty dope. It's also on the main stage at EVO this year, so it must have some depth to it beyond the mashing present in this QL.
Are you being serious? "Pre-Review?" What Pre-Review?
Write a review that points out the game is a broken, unfinished piece of shit, give it one or two stars, and tell people what to expect when they're buying a new product near launch without giving the developers a slobbery bone by saying that it'll be finished later.
The servers don't work, factor it into the score.
You guys had the balls to do it with XCOM 2 why not this one?
Did you not read the editors note they had on here? They were waiting to see what the servers were like, the pre-review was based on the game pre-release. If anything, the game would have got a better score because the servers weren't on fire until then. This is the exact opposite of giving the game a pass.
The XCOM2 review came out after the game was released. This wasn't.
I dunno how I feel about this game being reviewed by a guy who can't even beat Dan 1v1. (Has anyone made that joke yet? I hope not)
This sounds mostly great, but the lack of 'stuff' is weird. I'm one of those people who likes single player stuff and delaying the release months down the road is a real weird decision. Also I don't think a half assed tutorial cuts it anymore. I recently got into KI on the xbox and the amount of tutorial stuff is pretty extensive.
Overall this seems like a product aimed at people already way into Street Fighter and everyone else, well, come back in a few months?
How long till Rooster Teeth takes a shot at Dan for his wine and cheese review?
...sorry I can't resist low hanging fruit.
Fair review I think. It's not as busted for me so far but I can't fault Dan for scoring it like this if he had to put up with a bunch of bugs. Shame, sounded like he was pretty into it.
