Gotta say, though: Smoke on the Water? Really? That was such a snoozefest on the first Guitar Hero.

Edit: I forgot to mention. The rumour of Spinning Wheel being in the game looks false. It never showed up in the scrolling setlist, when it should've under "S". "
I had to justify this point with someone else already, but I'm almost positive the only reason "Crazy Train", "Free Bird", and "Smoke on the Water" got chosen over other choices were for Pro Guitar.

Also, I'm actually hoping Spinning Wheel isn't in the game. It's not a bad song, I actually grew up listening to it often, I just think it sounds awful to play.

PS. If this is the setlist, I could be down with that.
Yup, it's looking like this is true. I'm stoked for plenty of the songs, but I'll have to listen to a lot... and I mean a lot, of songs.

I'm really not impressed by these songs at all. I like listening to several of them (INXS, Slipknot, War, Poni Hoax), but none of them sound that great to play. Oh well, at least that Gamefaqs list is basically confirmed and I can rejoice at the fact that The Con, Werewolves of London, and Beast and the Harlot are in the game.

The "Beat all of the free downloadable songs" achievement leaves me intrigued.  Are we getting even more free songs after the game is release, ala Rock Band 2, or are they talking about stuff like "Charlene" and "Headphones On" that are already out there? "
I'm also intrigued by this as well. The main thing I'm wondering is if this includes those 20 free songs that came with a new copy of RB2, which would seem kind of unfair to those who don't have them.    I'm also not suprised about the pro instrument achievements. It'd be kind of odd to promote this feature and then completely leave it out of the achievements list, at least IMO.  Overall I'm pretty satisfied with the achievements, and I can get most of them, so it's fine with me. I'm loving the HO/PO and Dave Grohl achievements, too. "
Wait what? 20 free songs? I don't remember getting 20 free songs. "
It was not 20 free songs of your choice. It was a bunch of generally bad songs, that I doubt anyone has ever heard of. I didn't even bother downloading it. "
Just because you have never heard of them doesn't mean they're bad songs. Some of them turned out to be pretty good and/or really fun to play, like "Like a Fool" by Shaimus, "Prequel to the Sequel" by Between the Buried and Me,  and "The Feeling" by Kutless

Am I the only one getting the vibe that these were rejected RB3-disc songs?

Regardless, I'm really digging La Roux's Bulletproof, and the Eagles of Death Metal, KMFDM, and Blondie songs are all pretty good.

I still can't get into The Decemberists. Never have, seems that I never will.

You could always buy a Rock Band 2 bundle, get the guitar, drums and microphone in that, and have Rock Band 2 songs to import into Rock Band 3, doubling the amount of songs you have to play when Rock Band 3 rolls around. Then when Rock Band 3 launches, get the keyboard bundle, and then you have one of each instrument and plenty of songs to play.

Bad Religion is always a good thing. Too bad we still don't have anything off of Stranger Than Fiction, and they probably should have picked "I Want to Conquer the World" instead of "No Control" if they really wanted a song off that album. Oh well.
