2011: A Year To Game

Here is a collection of the games I have beaten this year.

List items

  • Beat 1/1/11- I couldn't stop playing this game over my winter break. A grand game that other titles could only hope to compare to. The twist? Assassin's Creed 2 was better. I hope next title retires Ezio early on. He's a great guy, but I need someone new.

  • Beat 1/2/11- I bought this game because it was a weekly deal, and I had been putting it off. I was a tad upset with the lack of narrative, but many say that's what makes the game what it is. Either way, great experience so long as you aren't paying full price.

  • Beat 1/10/11- I played the demo to this game, and I was blown away. Didn't know if the whole game would hold up, and after initial reviews it seemed like it did. I loved everything about the title, with the exception of the last 2 chapters.

  • Beat 1/13/11- While many praised the game's story as amazing, I just simply wasn't blown away. I felt as if I had heard it told somewhere along the line, so it didn't hold the same effect for me as others. It also didn't help that someone ruined the ending for me. The actual gameplay was great.

  • Beat 1/19/11- This title was on my must play when I finally got a PS2 last year. I put games like Kingdom Hearts and Jak and Daxter ahead of this, and missed out on playing this one. I could hardly put it down. The shooting and collecting was far too addicting and fun. It makes me glad to hear the sequels are even better.

  • Beat 2/3/11- I never played this as a kid despite loving Super Mario RPG and Superstar Saga. For the longest time I believed it was a platformer, not an RPG, and had no interest. While the story was simply ok, I felt the gameplay was great. In all honesty though? Has nothing on Super Mario RPG. It may be because that was my first RPG however.

  • Beat 2/7/11- Made sure to play all the levels before identifying this as "beat". A great game, but brief. Definitely a good candidate for the debate on "How important is game length?"

  • Beat 2/14/11- I wanted to play this game again because I had such great memories of it. I was sad to find out that it didn't take that long to beat after you know how to do everything. Still a strong play for anyone who hasn't played it.

  • Beat 2/15/11- Fun fact: I never actually beat this by myself as a kid. I watched others play it, and enjoyed it then, but couldnt get into the campaign.

  • Beat 3/12/11

  • (HD)Beat 3/18/11

  • Beat 3/26/11

  • Beat 4/1/11
