@2ez4u2c: I reinstalled the game after all the responses I got here planning to go digging into files and what not, and it worked perfectly from the start. Left it at the High settings that it set it to again and runs 60 no problem with the ever occasional audio hitch. I have no idea what incomplete mess the Microsoft Store sent me the first time but honestly I’m just glad that I’m gonna get to play this one.
I wish I could play these games, I have an i7-7700k with an RX580 that has pretty much allowed me to play everything I've ever thrown at it at its highest settings or damn near with 60fps. Forza 7 was a rock solid gorgeous experience for comparison, but FH3 and now the demo for FH4 on lowest possible settings run like an absolute nightmare. Constant hitching, audio breaks, cutscenes even lag, and the game itself is a complete slideshow in the truest form of that phrase. When it does the optimization at the beginning it even sets it to High. It's such a bummer and I'm out of ideas.
I honestly have been having a really enjoyable time with this game over the last few days and I had nothing good to say about the first one outside of its graphical prowess. I understand all the hate for the card system, but I have not felt at a disadvantage at all during the 10 hours I've put into the multiplayer and I haven't spent a real (when you could) or virtual penny on crates. The maps and their stages generally feel like hard fought all out war until the end even with only max 20v20 lobbies, most of the modes are solid and the time spent on making era accurate representations of all of generations of star wars feels lovingly there. I've been having fun regardless if I'm doing good or bad. If anything rent this or origin access it and see if it's for you, the immense shitstorm on this game could feel unwarranted for you as it does for me.
I've never been a big fan of Nintendo, have had most the consoles and handhelds for the sake of having them (skipped Wii U) but never found much Nintendo only games that grabbed me outside of Mario Kart and the occasional Pokemon game. Mario and Zelda have never been special for me. It has always bummed me out not being able to see why they're so amazing to people, but I bought the Switch exactly for how incredible both BotW and Odyssey looked like they were going to be, and they have been beyond magical experiences. I may not be able to go back and appreciate everything because of this, but I'm thrilled to finally be apart of these games, better late than never.
I haven't played one of these in a some years now (played 2009-12) mainly because I've followed the sport less and less and the games as of late looked rather one note, but regardless this may have just sold me on picking this up and getting back into the swing of things. Really loving everything of what I just saw here, when Codemasters really go all out they make beautiful things, and after Dirt Rally I know they still have that magic and maybe some of that made its way into F1 again. I'm one of those diehards you speak of, and you are right, I had my expectations oh so very low after the years and years of setbacks for this game to the point where I was only gonna play it because it had DOOM in the title. Which is something I would never want to admit to myself for any game series much less DOOM out of all of them. E3 showings weren't knocking my socks off either, they made it look kinda slow and one note, and don't get me wrong I actually enjoy DOOM3 quite a bit, but had hoped that's not what they wanted to do again this day in age. This one looked capable of more than that, but they just weren't really letting us see its true colors. So it sure as hell blew me away and I'm grateful for whoever pulled the plug on what was DOOM4 originally and came up with this relentless brutal bloodbath, it was well worth the wait in the end. Alright, off to continue my adventures in not beating Ultra Nightmare! It deserves every bit of that 5 out of 5.
