Ok, so i recently got my 360, and have yet to hook it up to the internet so far. What I'm wondering is whether or not my earned achievements are going to disappear when I get a Live account.
You can upgrade your existing account to a live account as far as i'm aware. Worth going onto the xbox website (www.xbox.com) and having a look at it further. Perhaps post on the support message board there.
Ok, that's good news. I was only wondering because I'm going to play through Ravenholm in Half-Life 2 with only the gravity gun, and I don't want to have to do it twice. Thanks.
To do so, im pretty sure you have to upgrade you account to gold, so that means the user name you use has to be eligible for xbox live. If it is a name like Josh, or something like that then your out of luck.

No, it shouldn't. When I got Live, I had achievements before, and they're still there.

They dont. I played about a month or so with a normal account. Upgraded it to live, all my saves and achievements were still there and working fine. You have nothing to fear :)
