@ahifi: I’ll admit that my opener was harsh, fair enough. It was a bit of mental diarrhea on my part where I was trying to convey to OP that he had just dropped a whole slew of red flags. In my experience hearing from others that what you’ve expressed has a lot of troubling aspects to it can help ground a person to being open to exploring help. I think at my mental lowest hearing people just explicitly call out how troubling my words/actions were was a real eye opener. Hand up, I definitely did that on a uncouth and unproductive way though.

As for your second part, I’m making no assumptions regarding OPs current mental health regimen. I believe (I am on mobile and can’t see my OP) I even laced it with qualifiers like “if you are not” and “consider”. I’m not a mental health professional, but I think people are still waaaay to uncomfortable regarding mental health. The reaction to some people here was as if I just called OP a horrible name. I really think we need to get to a point where people aren’t weird about if someone goes “hey bro, the things you’re saying make me feel like you might need to talk to someone”. If I was bleeding profusely from the face you would rightfully suggest I see a doctor. Sometimes people say things that demonstrate mental wounds, many people in these situations feel so clouded by those wounds they’re not always able to see the obvious need for help until someone points it out. My intent, while clumsy and hamfisted, was to help as opposed to just moving past someone having a hard time. I know I’m not equipped to help OP in the ways he probably needs it hence my suggestion.

And with that I’m done, and ready to talk about this dildo simulation

@thepotatoman: I'm probably what you're looking for.

I've played every CoD since the PC days. I played MW online a lot, BLOPs a lot online, and then after that I kind of bounced off every iteration until WWII. WWII was in my mind the return to form I wanted, it was clear, it was simple, it was very easy to understand what was happening and why, etc. I think I ended up only 2 prestiges away from Master prestige when it was all said and done.

My biggest issue with the CoD's after the first BLOPs is they became overloaded in gimmicks and it became a lot to manage. There was wall running, and abilities, and all sorts of crazy shit I couldn't keep track of. I think this game has a bit of that but not as much as something like Advanced Warfare or Infinite.

My biggest grievance with the game is that they've gone the Overwatch route of making "specialists" usable by only one person. The issue is that I've really only found two or three specialists that have abilities that make the game fun, the others have support abilities which as you can probably imagine isn't always well used in a game like CoD. I also haven't experienced it yet, but knowing the CoD community I feel like it's only a matter of time before I seem some straight vitriol for "not using a character right" or "not giving it up".

Overall it's fun game, but WWII did a ton of things right was one of the best CoD's in ages. I'll never understand Jeff's disgust with it.

I feel like an idiot. I'm 85% through Spider-Man and I never once equipped that web blossom perk. Today I tried it and realized that it basically makes all of the random crimes you encounter basically end instantly. On the one hand I feel like I got a more realistic game fighting all of those dudes (I used the Spider Bro perk).

Quick note, the swing kick is super easy and I'm shocked they're having a hard time with it. It's literally x to jump and the hold down square. If you want to guarantee a swing kick hold X to upper cut a gut and while he's in the air hold it down again to swing kick him.

Also, regarding NHL 2019:

I can see how casual fans wouldn't pick up on any changes, and granted there haven't been any major ones. But the small ones they have made are pretty solid. First, the skating physics have been over hauled. It's a bit more obvious if you play Be A Pro, but the skaters feel less like they're sliding around on air hockey and more like they're building momentum with their strides. You feel a bit more nimble, the animation for starting from a stopped position is also a pretty big tell that they changed it. They also tweaked scouting in franchise which was previously trash, now you actually get a sense of what the guys you are drafting could end up being. While it's certainly a redundant game when you compare it to previous iterations, it's not quite Madden territory. I do get the feeling the development team has their hands tied in terms of timing and budget.

Did no one else catch that the intro to Crackdown said "destory" instead of "destroy"

The Zephyrs were a AAA team in New Orleans for a while, now they're the Babycakes. Most of the team names that they were laughing at are actual Minor League teams, the Modesto Nuts for instance.

Jeff's explanation of that Call of Duty sequence is far better than it actually plays. It's the type of sequence that sounds amazing on paper but in execution it felt super thin.

Like listening to Jeff explain CoD was way better than playing CoD.
