Not my kind of game 0

I played this classic to see what the fuss is about, and I must say it's one of those things that if you weren't there then you probably don't get it. This game is too complicated - some say this is its strength, I say this is its weakness. The inventory system is pretty complicated. You have to reload weapons with different ammo, make sure your weapons don't break down on you, and collect med needles, strength needles, among other things. The psychic powers add another dimension to the combat. ...

Best single player FPS game of 2007 0

This game's single player is brilliant. It's short, but the gameplay is really enjoyable, and the regenerating health system works beautifully here. Some missions require you to snipe, others to use aircraft weaponry, and still others to search for an enemy leader. The environments are realistic and immersive, and the cut scenes are top notch, with excellent audio acting. My favorite part are the stealth sniping missions in Chernobyl, which are scripted beautifully and make for one of the best m...

One of the best single player experiences of 2007 0

This game is just awesome. The environments are varied, the scenes scripted so well that you feel really into the action of the game. One of my favorite parts of the game is the antlion invasion, because although its extremely linear, the antlions swarm at you so fast that its a really hectic and fun scene. I just love downing antlions, and it doesn't feel as tedious and anoying as it did in Half Life 2. In all respects, Episode Two is what Half Life 2 nearly was - an all-around perfect single p...

Not a bad game, just no point in playing it 0

This game is very addicting, especially after you have invested hours of your time doing nothing but grinding away. If you want to stand a chance in the wilderness or PvP, you must grind for months to reach high combat levels and earn enough money to buy decent equipment. It can be fun, and you can waste away hours on this game, but ultimately its not something you want to get into long-term. I applaud the developers for making such an expansive and colorful world and then displaying it inside y...

Great graphics and atmosphere - but the gameplay is lacking 0

The primary problem with the gameplay is the RPG elements, which, as mentioned by another reviewer, feel like a chore and take away from the firefights. Perhaps if there was better transportation than running available (which is not even possible if you have too much gear) then this wouldn't feel like work, but I really would like less chit chat and the like between actual fights. Also, the game forces you to worry about all these extra aspects that I don't really feel work well with a first per...

A well-designed and polished game 0

My favorite RTS series of all time is Red Alert, so I decided to use that game as the standard against which I compare this review. Overall, CoH is an original game with good gameplay and great graphics. The one criticism which sets it back, is that I didn't find it very enjoyable or addicting like I find most RTS games. There were a lot of annoying tasks I had to do that I didn't really find appropriate for an RTS game, micromanagement of the units was the foremost of them. I'd like it more if ...

Excellent game with an emphasis on fun 1

This game is simple, yet excellent. When everything clicks and you're working with your team to defend the intel or a control point, the experience is intense and you're having plenty of fun. The only downsides, and they are somewhat prominent, are that it can get repetitive after a long session. The gameplay, overall, can be repetitive, particularly if you play on the same map, the same game type, or same class for a long time. You're not supposed to stick to one class, or it will get boring ev...
