Players control a kangaroo or squirrel in Quick Step, an jumping action game from Imagic.
Gameplay
Player one controls a kangaroo, while the squirrel is controlled by another player, or a computerized opponent. The object of the game is to score the most points before losing every life.
The playfield consists of multiple "trampolines"; bars of color which can be jumped on by either player. A grey trampoline scores no points, a pink one scores five. Additionally, jumping on a pink trampoline turns it to the player's color. Players continue jumping on to trampolines, turning them their respective color, until an alarm signals the end of a stage. At this point, the next screen scrolls down vertically, and trampolines score points as they scroll off the bottom of the screen. It is therefore the object to end the stage with as many trampolines as possible turned to the respective colors of the players.
Additionally, there are "tricky trap" trampolines (6 in total) where a player can use the lone button on the atari joystick to remove a trampoline altogether. The disappearing trampoline would be the one most recently jumped on. A magic hat is occasionally up for grabs as well. capturing the hat and touching an opponent while on a trampoline causes that opponent to temporarily freeze, giving an advantage to the player with the hat. Gold mats are worth additional points, and award one additional tricky trap for a maximum of 7.
Each player has 6 lives, with a bonus life at 2000 points. The surviving player gains 200 points per remaining life (and is awarded a bonus life if the remaining life bonus puts that player over 2000).
