As famous as Quinton Jackson is in the West, it is nothing compared to his stardom in Japan. Quinton cut his fighting teeth in Pride Fighting Championship in Japan, and eventually made his way to the UFC. Quinton is known for his slams, ground and pound and for having strong power in both hands. Rampage shocked the world when he knocked Chuck Liddell out in the first round at UFC 71, making that his second victory over Chuck. Rampage also defeated Dan Henderson (ex-pride light heavyweight champion) to unite the two belts from Pride and the UFC. Rampage lost his title in a five round war with Forrest Griffin, and was involved in a high speed chase from police soon after the loss. He was reportedly battling mental health issues as well as a fallout with his head trainer.

Rampage later returned to the octagon to defeat long-time rival Wanderlei Silva by knockout, and Keith Jardine by unanimous decision. Following the win against Jardine, Rampage was selected as a coach on season 10 of The Ultimate Fighter, opposite fellow light heavyweight Rashad Evans. Rampage and Rashad clashed numerous times during the show, with conflicting personalities rubbing each other up the wrong way.

On September 22, 2009, on his personal blog, Rampage announced his intent to retirement, most likely to pursue an acting career. Rampage won the role of Mr T in the movie remake of The A-Team, gaining moderate praise for his performance

Quinton returned to the UFC at UFC 114 where he lost to rival Rashad Evans via unanimous decision, in what was a hugely successful pay per view playing off the months of build from The Utlimate Fighter show. Rampage citied promotional commitments for his recent appearance in The A-Team as a factor in this loss.
