The game looks awesome. The skylanders stuff, not so much. If games like this and SSB will require us to buy little toys to access dlc consider me pissed.

Ubisoft Would Rather You Didn't See This Rayman: Legends Internal Demonstration Video [UPDATED]
@prencher: I was speaking of the ability to scan things in via the touch screen but you an be pejorative if you want. I didn't ask if you wanted it I said I did.
I was interested until I saw SOCIAL GAMING and then I knew the game is going to be tied on PC to Uplay and that makes me sad.
The video features multiple people using WiiU tablets. Does this mean the WiiU supports more than one?

No it doesn't?
Looks fantastic except for that awful looking WiiU stuff. I can't wait until that system comes out so I can not buy it.

Those dudes are using four Wii U controllers at once.

Thank you. No they aren't.
I'm no expert, but that doesn't look like the sort of thing you release as an internal proof of concept video. That looks like a trailer. I mean, if you're showing it to developers and things, there is no need for it to be so flashy and polished. If you're showing it to investors you might want it to be flashy and polished, but there would be financial information and shit like that. That's a trailer.
Whether this is a trailer or not, i want to see more companies proclaiming the epicness of their rendering engine.
I found the Wii U stuff more interesting then the game itself (I heard about this already but didnt see the video). Not to say the game isnt good, I love Rayman origins (I still have the original I think Origins is better) there's just so little about the WII U to even mention it makes you go "hmm?"
That being said, I'm surprised they made a sequel. I thought Rayman origins was a flop? If not that's good to know, we need more great games like that. So few platformers last few years worth playing (outside maybe a few Mario games).
@CornBREDX:
Back in February Ubi Soft said the title was already profitable. So not a flop. http://www.joystiq.com/2012/02/15/rayman-origins-is-actually-profitable-for-ubisoft/
I loved Rayman: Origins, and there is just something about that "trailer" that makes me uneasy. The change in graphical style and addition of filler (mechanics and characters) makes unhappy.
Rabbids? I'm kind of sick of them. It started out as a fun thing, but Rayman and Rabbids should be separated.
Looks like the Wii U has the same RFID scanning technology that is in Skylanders. Either that or Ubisoft is doing some crazy voodoo magic with the Wii U controller.

@AndrewB: Why are people missing out on this news?
It's official. The "scanning stuff" IS built into the Wii U. It was already announced, ages ago. It's called "NFC." Aside from the Skylanders-style stuff, many phones and credit cards have NFC in them as well, meaning you could make a fast purchase by tapping your card on the controller.
Because I've paid incredibly little attention to the Wii U and had forgotten I knew that already.
Call it Apathy Syndrome.
I forsee a large unwanted collection of plastic things with NFC in Jeff's future.
That aside, hoping the game sticks to what was shown here because it all looks fantastic.
Its been known for a while that the Wii-U will support near field technology... Jeff was talking about it a while ago.Oh my god... if Nintendo built a Skylanders-esque system of scanning into their next console, I take back all the doomsaying from the other day. They will have won again. I'm buying Nintendo stock right now.
I can't wait!
And apparently people who have bought collector editions of Ubisoft games, those that came with the statues, will be able to get new levels???
And why are so many of you guys in the comments thinking the original was a flop?? Rayman Origins' been clearly a hit! And with all the new and upcoming ports of the game on various systems, it just keeps getting better! The game was amazing anyway~
Alex I had forgot about Mr. Caffeine and you just had to ruin my day, watching him crash and burn was painful

i doubt that's the case.... if this is an internal video, then that's probably them pitching this to the higher ups, being like "Hey, what if we had stuff that we could insert in the game?" It's likely they just grabbed it because the idea was cool. NOT that that collector's statue has any actual tech to allow for this stuff...
