A couple of days ago @yummylee created an excellent blogpost about whether or not a Resident Evil 2 Remake should exist.

Well, here it is... Some guy decided he wanted to learn Unreal Engine 3 and remade Resident Evil 2 in it.

It's an impressive effort, but ideally if Capcom were to remake it, it would be something that got the same love and attention as REmake, which is probably a tall order in today's economy.

Oh, hey, thanks for the shoutout! So is this another unofficial remake separate from the one a whole team is working on? Complete with the option to switch between camera angles and over the shoulder ect.? In any case it's neat to see people attempting what Capcom likely couldn't do justice.

Really impressive stuff, but can you even download it? I looked at the actual link on Youtube and everything, and all he mentions are links to download UDK and some copyright stuff. Is he not releasing it because he doesn't want to get shut down?

Some of the lighting is really crappy, but heck, it doesn't look half bad.

EDIT: Ohhh, I didn't know the whole game was remade- that is really impressive.

@quarters: Nah, it seems like he has taken a hard stance against distributing it, since it after all isn't his to distribute, but it's a nice portfolio piece for him to show off if he is looking for a job making games.

Wow! Aside from the excessive bloom in some places, it looks really good. I would love to play it, but I certainly understand why he wouldn't want to release it.
