PokéMonday Night Combat - 02/18/20

Just like last time we fought, my Eevees held up well against Jan!

But also like last time, Jan got an unlucky miss. I would have preferred a clean win.

Hey Jan, I think you should probably lead with Indeedee as often as possible, definitely when you think the other team has priority shenanigans. Psychic Terrain really ruins some of my favorite teams.

On the topic of a Nuzlocke run, I would really like to see it. I think it only needs to be a weekly feature of similar length to this, a bit longer maybe. Once PMNC runs out its welcome it would be cool to try and start up, give it a similar feel to when Ben did that Sekiro boss mixed with this.

While I love the GBA remake of Gen 1, I think the DS remakes of Gen 2 are probably the best to work with. They're not too hard, have a cool structure (Day-Night cycle, bug catching contest, two regions, roaming legendaries, phone calls, etc.) and aren't too difficult at first (Falkner is pretty low-level as the first gym leader and he's like the 3rd town in the game.) As much as I love the likes of Emerald and Platinum, they're a bit more difficult and not quite as popular in some ways. Not to mention the general layout of the Hoenn region I've always found really annoying, for all the strengths Gen 3 has.

Not to mention with Let's Go Pika/Eevee just rehashing Gen 1 recently too, the Gen 1 nostalgia is handled a lot better in HG/SS than I think anywhere else. As well HG/SS is pretty easy to emulate and set up – using the latest Xbox controller is nice, can't wait to swap out for Series X controller on my PC. Just try not to confuse those face buttons I suppose...

I reloaded giantbomb.com/chat for 30 minutes after this episode was supposed to go live, I checked Jan's Twitter and Giant Bomb's Twitter, nothing, so I turned everything off and went to bed.

When did this air?

I always watch these after the fact, so maybe I'm missing something, but wouldn't the audience have an unfair advantage in that they can see what choices Jan is making and respond accordingly? Or is there is a significant delay in the stream or something?

@flstyle: It was delayed by an hour and a half for some reason. I did the same as you at the initial announced time, but then it was shown at the new time in the schedule an hourish later.

+1 Interest for GiantBomb PokeDiscord, please. I finally got my hands on a Switch earlier in the month, and while I've always watched competitive, Monday Night Combat more than anything else has really inspired me to try and give it a go this time.

Not right now, though, cause it's smack in the middle of my exams, which in hindsight was a bad time for me to get my switch but eh.

I'm intrigued by the GB Pokemon Discord, but I'm finding myself not really wanting to do super serious comp battles the more I'm seeing Jan going far more serious than I want to be? If people want to do Dynamax raids (shiny raids, as I've watched my nephew getting DOZENS of shinies in his discord from people doing the work to fudge shiny chance rates in dens) or whatever, I'd love to join in a discord channel.
