Would be nice if the series got it's own name for easier discoverability though.

I wonder if the bugs like shots not registering on enemies comes from them playing the game with the 60fps option since it was designed for 30 originally? I've played the pc version before at 30fps and can't recall ever having those problems.

I'm surprised they didn't mention the adaptive difficulty when it came to Abby being able to handle the beginning area even while not playing perfectly. Especially since they mentioned it in earlier episodes. The whole point of adaptive difficulty is to make you always feel like you're on the brink of death and feel satisfied when you complete an area. This is a lot more apparent in RE2 by comparison because of the ammo scarcity.

Man... I hate to spoil myself watching these not having played RE4 yet... but whatevs. lol. It's fun to watch.

Are ya seriously gonna play the whole thing? IDK RE4 isn’t bad enough to be funny and is too played to be insteresting. Would personally have preferred Shenmue II or Beast in the East as opposed to another RE long play. Even the RE PSMove games would be quick and funny to watch youse guys plays. RE4 is just so uninteresting in 2019, not trying to be a dick just making what I feel is an honest critique.

I played the hell out of this game on PS2, and later on PC with mods. It's surprising how well this game holds up and how revolutionary it was when it was released.

As much as I definitely believe in Abby's m4d sk33lz, I certainly think watching previous Endurance Runs (and, hell, the RE2 playthrough) also validates Alex's idea that we, as gamers, inflate certain challenges in these games.

I'm glad that Abby is choosing to play through this. I don't think there is that much coverage of this game on this site so it's cool to see it again for the first time since I beat it years ago.

Does anyone have those Big Live Live Show talent videos? They were all put up on here as ads and they would randomly load before videos. I don't know if i've ever seen the standalone videos. And I'm pretty sure @alex did one where he showed off his drumming by slapping a bunch of upside down trash cans.

Abby is my favorite member of Giant Bomb to watch playing games. Her reactions, and everyone else's reactions, are hilarious.

So what is the trick to the plagas tentacles that Dan keeps wanting to say?

Dan continues to be unable to accept the simple fact that Abby is better at video games than him.

Pop 'em with one of those flash grenades Abby keeps selling.

Shooting out the wooden bars covering the windows in the cabin to make it easier for the enemies to get inside was something else.

@shadypingu: Dan should just tell her. It’s not a spoiler, it’s just a basic part of the gameplay.

I keep marveling at how great Abby's glasses look. They compliment her face really well. They make her appear slightly older. Only slightly. And I mean that as a compliment. Promise. :)

Also, she kicks ass at RE anything ;)

Why is it so hard for Dan and Alex to just say "Abby is good at Resident Evil" without fumbling for qualifications/excuses?

@eazeapeazea: because she's not actually "good" at it. Which is not to say she's bad or anything its just the game adapts to the player. Missed shots, amount of ammo and times hit are all taken into account. The game wants you to succeed.

Loving this playthrough. Hope they play some more on Friday.

I had the same reaction to her just standing still during the boss fight, and it really put the earlier conversation about certain mindsets applying more difficulty to certain games than there really is. Abby is just consistently crushing moments I died several times on when I first played these games, and the primary throughline is that she is not playing this game like it's the most terrifying thing in the world.

Now I'm starting to wonder how I'd fare with this game if I played it now, compared to when I was 14 and bringing all the baggage of multiple RE1 and 2 playthroughs to the table (as well as just being a super jumpy guy in general). Apparently ammo conservation is irrelevant, the game will just hand you more, and a lot of encounters are best handled by just standing there and shooting until the shooting's done.

It's not even souring my opinion of this game really, it's just wild how so many of these moments Abby is handling with relative ease despite often "missing" one thing or another that totally defined this game for me (like the aforementioned scrambling back and forth around the barn, or when she didn't even trigger the iconic chainsaw man in the first Village encounter). Kudos to this show, it's highly entertaining and informative and impressive all in one!

Man it just blew my mind how fast Abby did the cabin sequence. It took me at least 20 tries the first time I played this game. Also Abby fully upgraded Blacktail is the best gun in the game. People swear by the Red9 but I've beaten this game 47 times and it's a slow hunk of junk.

I replayed this game multiple times, and the Cabin part stll takes me a couple of tries to get though. How fast Abby got it her first time through the game is amazing!

I don't really get why Abby is being so insistent on not letting Dan tell her some tips; the flashbang thing isn't cheesing, just another method of killing them. Plus I doubt she'd come across it herself, considering how little she seems to want to experiment.

I'd like at least one suplex by the end of this playthrough, please!

I had to look up how speedrunners do that puzzle thing, turns out that they are pretty fast and does it while talking about other stuff with no issues.
