The CPAP stuff with insurance is such bullshit. When I first got my CPAP I was told that if I used it a certain percentage of the time then insurance would cover some amount of the cost. The problem is that wearing a thing on your face that is forcing air into your body isn't a natural thing and it takes a while to figure out how fitting it to yourself and putting it on properly so in that first 30-60 days you are very likely to just take it off in the middle of the night while you're sleeping. I went to bed with my CPAP every single night and at least a couple times a week I would wake up with the CPAP completely taken off and no memory of removing it. The insurance companies know there is a rough adjustment period at the very beginning of treatment and use it as a way of getting out of spending money to cover these machines that range from $500-$1000. That's where that bullshit 1 in 5 statistic came from that Grubb's doctor decided to rattle off.
