Just checked out the Kickstarter page. That game has the potential to look absolutely amazing.

Lots of people making light of a parent accidentally killing their child. That's kind of...weird. And awkward.

Anyway, it's great that the game development is at the point where a game like this has a chance of seeing the light of day. Even though I do see myself seeking the game out, I wish the best of luck to Simon Karlsson and the rest of the team.

It's the internet. Where ELSE are people going to prove how nothing gets to them and how edgy they are (and they don't care WHO they offend!)

What is this even supposed to be implying? You think there will be a twist at the end of the game where the father is actually a murderer?... based on.... absolutely nothing? Kind of disgusting.

@thiago123: Not that I need to justify it or anything, but based on my penchant for dark comedy.

God....even listening to Patrick describe the concept for the game made me wince. That's a legitimately upsetting premise for any type of media.

I am legitimately having trouble processing the existence of this game. I don't know if that's good or bad.

But in some ways I have to think: This would be a legitimate concept for a story, so why not a video game? What are (some, not all) video games if not a carrier for a story? The paper artwork is interesting and lovely. I hope the Kickstarter hits it's goal. I wish I could donate, but the it ends before I get paid next.

And that man was Rust Cohle.

For real though that is something that always seemed way too possible to me, and seeing a gif of it happening once didn't help.

It's an occurrence that happens more than you think, actually. Very sad. The guilt can often tear people and families apart even if the child lives.

Wow, talk about an insanely sad premise for a game. There's no way in hell I'll play it, but I would be interested to hear people's thoughts on it.

I agree with him about what defines a game nowadays, people are still being whiny about Gone Home and Dear Esther of it not being "games".

I didnt play much of gone home, but Dear Esther is not a game imo. Its more of a visual story experience. The only game play Esther had was in trying to get from location to location. So you could claim minor puzzle solving in trying to find the end of a maze. But other then that, its not a "game". Id compare Esther to one of those old tours where you walk up to a mock up of WTF ever, and press the speaker button to listen to recorded message.

Isn't that what happened in Astro Boy? If this ends up being an Astro Boy game I might play it.

Given that this game has yet to come out, perhaps in retrospect it was a poor decision to interview a depressed fashion designer who's never made a game before about how he's was trying to raise money to tell a story about parent's accidentally killing their children.
