Dan is being a little too harsh on Paul in these two Christmas podcasts. I feel bad for the guy. That being said I would have liked to hear more controversial Paul stories.

Belated Merry Christmas to the Ryckert family.

To be honest, I do too. I intended to stick with the theme of the podcast that he suggested. At the end, though, my usual podcast instincts of "oh, that reminds me of this, and now I'll bring it up" kicked in. I wasn't trying to make him look bad, but I brought up something that upset him without thinking. I apologized to him afterwards.

Forget John Vignocchi and Dan in a RV i want a Dan and Paul RV series.

2x Christmas 2016 Ryckert podcasts = the greatest gift of all.

It's bound to happen occasionally when you guys have such a free-speaking and cool relationship. I'll take this opportunity to thank you both for all these amazing podcasts and videos, all the way back from the Game Informer days.

That reminds me, if you see this, are you guys gonna do the Paul Ryckert Quick Look Extravaganza this year too? I sure hope so.

All the same though I admire the relationship you two have. Can't shoot the shit with my Dad like that.

What a pleasant surprise! I appreciate how real Paul is. I don't think Dan's approach is very effective in terms of "illuminating" his dad on his various shortcomings. I feel for Paul during these podcasts. Team Paul all the way. Thanks for always taking a raw approach to discussing life and it's many quirks, you two!

This raises more questions about the enigma that is paul ryckert than it answers.

I love the podcast. Paul seems like a great father/guy. It sucks that Paul feels bad about the way he is portrayed because he comes across just fine. If Dan were my kid I am sure I would have tossed some ninja turtles into the woods as well. It would be nice to hear some more positive stories about Paul (he seems fairly sensitive) in the future. He is obviously very proud of Dan and I am sure the feeling is mutual.

I agree that Dan occasionally brings up stuff that his dad told him sorta in confidence and shouldn't be repeated on a podcast. Like Paul says later, sometimes you have the presence of mind as a son/daughter to not bring up anecdotes that cast your parent in a bad light.

Good podcast overall, even if Dan pushed it a little too far near the end.

I enjoy this podcast in the same way I enjoy when Adam Boyes, Dave Lang and Johnny V are on at E3.
The comedic element comes from knowing that the jokes can sometimes get personal but in the end it's just a performance and hopefully everyone is still friends.

Wow Dan just doesn't let up, does he? Just let Paul complete his fucking stories, FFS. Stop interrupting him every second.

I now really, really want to hear Paul spill the beans on some of the dumb shit Dan has done.

Funny how people complain about the food in the UK, you can eat anything here, you don't have to just eat pies and fish n chips... I don't eat any of that stuff and neither does any one I know. Plus if you're in a City it'll be all foods from the world any ways, my Village has just Indian, Chinese and pizza places, there isn't any pie place here.

Although fish n chips is great, but don't waste your time at a fish n chip restaurant as they're not good... you want to go to the most run down skanky looking place that wrap it up in paper.

This was a bummer, Your dad just wanted to have a nice talk and you try to embarass and hurt him towards the end. Not cool.

Personally, I'd enjoy it more if Dan didn't try so hard to be an "entertainer" and would just be himself. It's a website about video games, not the Tonight Show or SNL. What I've always loved about Giant Bomb is it's always felt like a group of friends, being themselves, talking about video games and other related topics. When Dan's trying to put on a show it just feels fake.
