Oh dang! Sad I missed this live. @alex I've only gotten into Japanese wrestling back in 2018, and it's been great to dig through the history, especially through games like this. I'd personally love to see more!

Yoooo. As someone watching a lot of AJPW/FMW/BJPW lately, this shit rips. I will say this though, Akiyama should have replaced Taue off the jump as one of the 4 pillars, but Holy Demon Army is such a fucking good tag team name.

Unlike the real Burning Hammer, I hope Alex uses his scan converter more than 7 times in his life.

Good God, the Burning Hammer is a horrifying move. Straight from an article on the move:

"The Burning Hammer is quite dangerous even for seasoned veterans to perform, but it's not straight up banned anywhere but the WWE ... Rather, the move is almost never performed because most wrestlers are not willing to take the risk."

It's a rad finisher in a video game, though! That, the Snap DDT (AKA Raven Effect), and the Angle Slam are my favourites. Big excited for this.

I love that this game has all of the locations you would want for Japanese wrestling:

• Tokyo Dome-lookalike
• Budokan
• fake Korakuen Hall
• the Kawasaki baseball stadium where FMW did their biggest shows

I might just go get a Japanese N64 and this game just to keep a copy in good hands.

Idk about this scan converter that Alex got but it at least seems to do the bare minimum, ie not misinterpret 240p games as 480i. Lots of those cheap scalers are not suitable for old video games and introduce interlacing artifacts in games that were never interlaced to begin with.

@nukleon: yeah I don't know much about this thing, I just got it because it was inexpensive and did the exact thing I was looking for. reasonably pleased with the quality, especially for like $30.

This was great and reminded me of the Puroresu Party stream that Alex, Austin, and Vinny did in May 2016. I'm watching that back, and that is the origin of the bear-mask, tuxedo-waering create-a-wrestler briefly seen on Alex's cartridge on this stream. Big goofy dog attending a wedding that may also be a secret agent. Good times!

Am I the only one who hears Pantera's "Psycho Holiday" in the menu of this game?

Also thank you Alex for talking about Japanese wrestling, I feel like the only one in my group of wrestling fan friends who regularly watches DDT and NJPW.
