It definitely had its flaws but I've been loving this game so far. I've about 30 hours into it since launch and no sign of slowing down. Love me some big boys.

I had the exact same reaction to how moves are handled in this game. There are so many nice changes in this game I hope carry over.

I just want to say I really enjoyed this stream and VOD. It was a nice and chill show this morning and as ambiance. I hope to see much more of Jan and Jess hanging out in Pokemon Legends. With that said, it also has gotten me the most interest in maybe buying a Pokemon game in many years!

I haven’t gotten this game yet but this is easily the most intrigued I’ve been by a Pokemon game in a really, really long time.

Is there ever a point in this game where battles become important? What's the reason to capture the alpha Pokemon?

I'm struggling to understand why I would want to play through this game, just collecting Pokemon for no reason? I said in the QuickLook I don't know what the hook of this game is, and after watching several videos about this game I'm still not sure. It doesn't look challenging. It doesn't seem like exploration is a thing (for a game that clearly wants to be Breath of the Wild).

Hopefully this game leads into the big 3D open world Pokemon game everyone has been imagining since Red and Blue came out, for now they just seem to not quite want to go all the way.

The height of the jump definitely shows how close you are to capturing. It'll barely leave the ground if it's almost a sure thing. If it jumps the the black bars it's a very low chance. Jess is right, status conditions make a big difference to the catch rate!

ChrisFlavins question is valid... I'm assuming the end goal is to reach Spear Pillar and defeat Arceus?

Ugh, I shoulda bought Arceus instad of Brilliant Diamond as my foray back into Pokemon games. BD had an old school charm at first, but it wore off after a while and I kind of hated it by the time I beat the Elite Four. This game looks way more fun.

Jan, this is my fairly consistent method for catching alphas, even those that are 10-15 levels higher than my current Pokemon:

1. Hide in the grass/behind a rock
2. Throw a berry away from you (I usually use oran(?) berries because they're plentiful) so that they have to walk in a way that puts their back toward you when they go to eat it
3. Sneak up behind them with a heavy ball/heavy ball+ (whatever it's called)

It may take 2-3 tries for some of them, but this works really well for me. Except for that stupid alpha Carnivine who always saw me no matter what.
