Super GT graphics are awesome. Fun fact: when the graphics show the drivers, the one in the car will be larger. Also, the four tire manufacturers are allowed to develop their tires, which is rare in worldwide racing these days.

Also, Drew, in coming weeks is the Bathurst 12 Hours. That track, with GT3 class and lower cars. You should watch.

Bathurst 12 hours is soon. Events starting in 14 days with the race being that weekend. They do a free live international stream with commentary by the same people that do English Super GT.

Hey @drewbert, rFactor 2 (the racing sim that is used in the Formula E pre-race) has the Nissan GT-R GT500 since December (you have look for it in the Steam Workshop, but it's official content by the game-devs, if you want to race at Suzuka, the non-licensed equivalent track is called "Matsusaka" in the game). I think rF2 the only racing-sim that has a current GT500 car.

So, if you want something fun for UPF, maybe check it out, it's not easy to drive, but FUN!

[Also: No coverage of Formula E $1,000,000 jackpot simulation-racing Vegas "eRace"??? The software was bugged and gave the leader a SIX LAP fanboost. It wasn't his fault, but he was disqualified after the win.]

This. Also the race is usually shown from the NISMO youtube well from the show notes. Those guys commentating are from NISMO. The cool thing watching from NISMO is they also have other live streams from their GT3 GTR #23 car. Or a livestream of leaderboards. Or things lie 360 degree dashcam at bathurst. NISMO on their youtube channel does a lot more things than the races and a lot of it is pretty cool.

Also the Rolex 24 at Daytona in the IMSA (the IM is pronounced like imp) is January 28th. The races are up on their youtube channel the Tuesday after the race.

I hope you actually mean a 24 Hours of LeMons event and not just mis-spelling Le Mans ;) because throwing Danny and Drew into a team with a crappy car would be amazing content.

I bought grandstand tickets for the main straightaway from Lawson (one of the big convenience store chains). Their ticket machines will have the event somewhere in the menu, otherwise look on Fuji Speedway's website for the link and there will eventually be an L-Code or Loppi Code which you can then punch into the machine. But be careful, there is a difference between the seat and the entrance into the event. Unless the weather's bad, you don't *really* need a seat -- I walked around most of the track, taking photos from different places. And many of those places outside of the front-straight grandstand are just open grass seating. I highly recommend doing that, as you get to see from all around.

If you want more racing series, both Indycar and Nascar put all of their races up on their YouTube channels. There's a good bunch of Oval and Road racing in there, so there's a whole bunch of good stuff in there.

I personally recommend some Nascar, as it's presentation is basically the opposite of F1's presentation.

@beomoose: looks like Drew's gonna have to look for a racing license on top of his pilot's license.

Another GT series you can look at is the Blancpain GT Series. It's like Super GT, but on European tracks. Its also has more European manufacturers like Aston Martin, Ferrari and Lamborghini.

They frequently have 50 or more cars, in different classes, taking part at the same time. On Monza, the last few cars start out inside Parabolica.

One of the features I like best is each car's current position is displayed in large LEDs in windshield. This look amazing on the night races.
