I dont get the love for handybot, for a bot he is very mouthy. But I love the guy that "Fell" when Jeff shot him and the witnesses, they made a great vr moment.

That kid selling the gun shot is one of the best moments of 2016.

Completely agree with everything here.

Handibot was super annoying from the get-go. Add some homophobic nonsense to it, and it only got worse.

But yeah, the dude at the end who sold being shot and the "witness" were both awesome.

That would be rad. And I strongly wonder if it would hold up for more than 30 minutes? It's surely dependent on the quality (or the lack) of the other players.

Jeff's "This is the best thing ever!" had me in stitches, even though there's a genuine delight behind it.

@sravankb: I'm almost scared to ask what you consider "homophobic." I guess I maybe missed it because there was a lot of talking during the segments. It's not "grow a pair" though, so...

Playstation Home VR in the vein of rec room would be pretty kewl.

@kanerobot: I think people are missing something (Or I missed something). Someone in the room said "Handibot, how do I look less gay?" and Handibot responded "I understand you want to look less gay, is that correct?" or something. I think some people missed that he's repeating it back, not that he started saying it.

It's not in this video, but the part where Jeff looks down at the kid, the kid looks up at Jeff, and then Jeff pats him on the top of the head is probably the most funny-yet-subtle shit I've seen all year.

@grouchomilk: I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought the same thing. That was one of the best parts on this whole thing besides being the first thing that was cute in VR.

Jeff was amazing throughout the whole damn thing with him not breaking into laughter. I would have laughed through all of it if I would've tried.

You know, VR may not be all bad.

From what I can gather from the Vrodeo and Handibot's own Youtube video, Handibot is a learning machine. Whether it came up with the gag or not, one would hope that it understands that that's not cool and that it won't repeat said gag ever again.

Handibot deserves to be quietly forgotten, rather than roundly condemned.

I'm confused, haven't watched that original video, is handibot an actual person playing around or a construct of the game the developers put in?

@silver-streak: There was a bit where Handibot brought it up himself. It was shortly after he repeated it back to another player. It was a bit distasteful.

@troppmann: I'm with Dan, I was fooled for a bit! I thought maybe they were running a bots speech through a microphone to get it into the game.

I mean, I've heard the whole clip and dude has made comments that are not okay. I don't know why you seem to think I'm against fun or whatever. Hell, I even mentioned parts that I really enjoyed.

I think you missed something. Watch the VRodeo starting at about 1:10:38. Jeff saw the help about going back to the dorm room to change. Jeff said, "Okay, so I can go back to the dorm room and change. Okay. Okay, that's where the—this—outfits." And Handibot responded, "You would like help changing your outfit...to look less gay. Is that correct?"

Pity, as I thought it was a fun bit before that.

Holy shit Rec Room is amazing.

There was a point where Handibot mispronounced MonsterDunk but otherwise he was pretty good at keeping up the charade.

Not everything has to be "okay", you are being offended on the behalf of homosexual people when there's not really any need to (though I am assuming you are not homosexual).

On top of that... Jeff's character wasn't in male clothing, femininity/flamboyance/campy is associated with homosexuality and has been for decades (something a lot of homosexuals actually embrace), it isn't homophobic to say "look less gay" in such context.

It pretty clear the "hanndibot" was being really rude and shitty. It doesn't make it not funny in certain ways. I picture it as a dude with no friends just lashing out.

Cause that's a major part of Handibot's game (in improv terms), is that he's a parrot.

I wasn't speaking with authority and I never said I was.

The idea that this Handibot character (or whoever) is homophobic based on a stupid line like that is to me, an overreaction. Sometimes people say stuff that isn't politically correct, it doesn't make them bigots or monsters.

Funny thing with language though. The way "gay" was used as a general /bad/ thing word. I think i just replaced it with "lame". Which im sure could be considered offensive. Maybe just need to be less negative about things.
