Halo's fun, but do we need another playthrough? Drew and Alexis have already played through them on here, haven't they?

I don't think that actually works considering it's huge status in gaming..?

That said, Halo is overrated if you played a lot of PC shooters back in the day. When Halo finally came out for PC (it was only on Mac prior) I was playing Battlefield 1942 with huge maps, realistic physics and weapon handling with bullet drops and such. Jumping into Halo at that point with the goofy low-gravity and rubber cars just felt underwhelming.

@doncabesa: I don't know man I think I was being respectful and took the time to write an actual reply that sort of explained why someone might think that about a game you obviously like.

Haven't committed to anything. Just playing some Halo on the site, we'll see what I end up doing.

@humanity: You're right, but as someone who had a pc there was just something about Halo at the time. Sure I could find better looking or bigger games, but not much without spending insane amounts of money on my pc. I recently played through the entire series in coop with my wife and brother (from 3 on for the 3 of us) and they all hold up and in my opinion got better with each game. Halo Infinite being a launch title on what is shaping up to be an incredibly powerful machine has me hyped through the moon. I have given up on PC gaming because of how frustrating it is and how much less time I have to fix it.

@benpack: But Ben you promised on the stream that you're gonna finish it and we can't ruin your spotless record!

@doncabesa: Hey thats cool! It didn't speak to me but I guess I was in a different headspace at the time coming off a lot of competitive Counter Strike. But I'm 100% there with you about PC gaming. I still maintain a good gaming PC just in case but have long ago switched primarily to consoles for the exact same reason - growing frustrating with PC issues making games crash or not even launch and increasingly not wanting to dedicate the time to scouring online forums trying to find fixes on message boards or worse yet finding out my particular CPU chipset just doesn't work well with the game.

So weird people have such a hard time using XBox One UI, it's not that difficult.

@humanity: With Sony coming to PC being a real possibility I very much might go with an Xbox Series X and PC for the future. My kids have a switch but none of the games do anything for me.

I, for one, really enjoyed this! I would have enjoyed more Jan. Whether in playing or commentating. Especially fun since Ben hasn't played before and seemed to enjoy it. Obviously no promises and I won't be upset if you guys don't go along with this. But, a pass and play (on death) with you two would be enjoyable to see, I think!

Halo's campaign is fantastic.

Halo is one of the most important games of the last 30 years. Console multiplayer and shooters on consoles were forever changed by it. Its also a damn fun game, even today.

I'm thinking a pretty sticky title would be Honey Nuttin' But Halos Rancheros, but you do you @benpack

Also, fun stream! And you have the opportunity for different people drop by and play co-op, describe their Halo times and whatnot because it's so ubiquitous.

While there are complete playthroughs of the entire series by on the site already, they're a pretty different thing than what this could potentially be. Drew and Alexis are both intimately familiar with the series, while Ben is a newcomer to the franchise. Drew and Alexis played through those games marathon style during Extra Life streams, while Ben could play the game at a more measured pace, avoiding the fatigue that comes with playing a full game all the way through in one go.

And ideally, if Jan was playing alongside him, we'd get the contrast of someone new to a thing playing with someone who's beaten it already, which is a good dynamic. The newcomer gets the benefit of their partner's experience and history with the game in question, and the partner gets to experience the game for the first time again vicariously through the newcomer.

Blind playthroughs are fun, as are retrospectives. Put the two of them together, though, and I think you get something greater than the sum of their parts.

Ben I think if you play more you should switch between original and remastered graphics more. Its really neat to see the comparison. Also the play through on this site was with original visuals.

More Halo please, Ben! This is amazing! The only thing I'd suggest, as another user said, is to switch between the styles more frequently, or just stick with the newer one if that's too much of a pain. Either way I hope there's more Halo.

I've been wanting to see Ben discover Halo for a while.

I mean, that was what - 5 or 6 years ago? The GB community has absolutely nothing to lose by seeing Ben come into this game with fresh eyes (and ears. And noses.)

Halo is one of the few games I've played more than once (that has a campaign/story mode, that is). I've played it with friends at least like 30-40 times as a teen. It's real weird seeing someone the same age as me that has no concept of what Halo is except word of mouth and Destiny.

Hence this is fascinating and I wouldn't mind a feature out of it! But yeah, play coop, it reaaaaaaaaaaaally makes the game. There's so much bullshit to get up to.

I'm all for more Breatfast 'N' Ben 'N' Halo (or whatever form it takes).

...I need to reinstall the Master Chief Collection now.

I ran into the same issue, the store does not make it clear at all (probably intentionally) that only Reach is available at the moment. I got a refund though, will wait for the whole collection to come out because Reach isn't great imo.

One of my favorite things about the site is when people go back to classic games they missed (like Brad with SMB). So I'm all for more Halo, and the fact that Ben is coming in fresh definitely sets it apart from Drew and Alexis. Good stuff, Ben and Jan!

Halo is my favorite gaming franchise I hope with the PC releases of the games and Infinite later this year we will get a lot more coverage and Halo fun!

Man, original Halo looks so much better than the remade Anniversary graphics. Everything looks cluttered and plasticky. Like painted over.

With out Drew around anymore it would be nice to have someone else on staff bone up on Halo. It is a pretty big series and it shows in conversations on the podcasts that most of the crew doesn't remember much about it.

It is one of my favorites so I personally would like to see them play more of it.

I'd be up for this, but maybe with Jan on chat as playing a story campaign while looking away and dealing with chat through the story sections seems like a good way to not quite get the full experience.
