Breaking Brad: Breaking Bradborne: The Platinum - Part 01

What do you propose would make a good Breaking Brad from Witcher 3? Or is this you just throwing out the name of your favourite game at the moment? :P

You totally can get all weapons including Blade of Mercy in the normal game. Only stuff exclusive to dungeons is blood rocks and good gems.

Also The Witcher 3 isn't even technically that viable as it's not that demanding in terms of combat.

I'm far enough into Bloodborne and closing in on some of this stuff Brad's doing that I probably shouldn't spoil it for myself.

I really liked this video, mostly cause the Brad + Jason banter was real nice. I cant wait for the next installment

What if Brad does co-op with Jason to help him get to the chalice dungeon he is at. It will be a good way for him to farm up some souls and set up a co-op partner in case shit goes wrong?? I dunno.

Also I know Vinny is probably neck deep in Witcher and Dadder.

@badnews: It's BreakingBrad, kind defeats the point of doing this if you're making it easy on him.

At least the music in the dog fight is good, and it doesn't start with "Tango down in section One Alpha" since I think we're going to be here for a while.

@brad There will be some Chalice Dungeon bosses in your path to the Platinum where the best strategy is to fight them with no lock on. The reason for this is is that you'll want to attack specific body parts that are hard to reach with the lock on.

As someone who stopped playing Bloodborne early on and am therefore incredibly off base saying it: That Watchdog didn't seem very hard to beat. Sure it would take a while but Jason's suggestion of waiting till it vomits lava to get a few hits seemed like a valid strategy. Granted, this is a souls type game so maybe it just completely changes form and move set halfway through regardless, but it looked doable. Boring, yes, but doable

It's doable, but it's widely considered the hardest boss in the game for a reason.

Took me 8 hours or more to beat that Watchdog in the defiled chalice. Man, it's rough.

The lock on is aiming at center mass which is what Brad does NOT want. Brad needs to embrace the no lock on, and attack the fire dogs hind legs. It will stun him after a few good hits.

My advice for chalice dungeons: Spend the majority of your echoes on refilling vials / bullets. Then you don't have to go farming between bosses.

Also, you can get two red jellies from the lecture building pretty quickly if you're in NG+. Beeline to Gascoine, Amelia, then the forest, get the Tonsil Stone, and get ported to the Lecture Building by the Amygdala. 2 jellies are in the room to the right of the Nightmare Frontier door.

@amyggen: I get you. Wasn't trying to belittle it (much) but I just assumed it was due more to people trying to rush it over anything else.

The biggest roadblock to this fight is fear - it seems so natural that you would want to stay far away from his attacks, but that's exactly the opposite of the most successful strategies for beating him (her?).

The most critical key to most bloodborne fights is positioning and "baiting" attacks. The goal is that you want to get behind and slightly to the side of his hind legs, then hit the knees/elbows. The best way to do that is GET IN HIS FACE to initiate his bite attacks. Run straight at him (locked on), then dodge THROUGH his bite towards the side that the bite is coming from. You'll emerge unscathed after a bit of practice, and can land some good hits on the legs. His fire lake spew attack is awesome - free hits; and he usually initiates it after you've dodged through his bite and you're in the best position to just wail on his legs.

After a few hits, his knee will break and you can wail on him. Note that you can break him once on each leg, and he will take additional damage from that knee afterwards.

The strategy changes slightly as the fight goes on and he gets the quicker bite attack and stomps, but the principle is the same. I'd say this fight took me the longest to adjust to and figure out, but once you get familiar with running at his face and dodging through his bite to get behind him, it shouldn't take long to bear him. I think the headless blood-letting beast is a bit more challenging, but that's probably a play style thing.

This is great timing. I'm doing the same thing- trying to get the platinum. Just started the defiled chalice dungeon. It's a race against my fake friend Brad!

Heaven must have a serious overpopulation problem.

Here's a couple pieces of unsolicited advice: first off, check out your blood gems. You never even looked at the gem you got from the Keeper of the Old Lords, and Cursed blood gems are extremely good. You can probably seriously ramp up your damage output.

Second, the Watchdog: Jason's advice for fighting wolf/dog bosses is correct most of the time, but wrong here. You want to stay in front of the Watchdog and punish his head swipes. If you're going under or behind the boss, you're taking a huge risk of getting oneshot; only do that when he's puking or if you've broken one of his legs.

I'm stuck on this dog as well. Watching the video is the first time I've heard this sentiment expressed. If this is true, I may go back for the platinum myself. Is the dog really the biggest hurdle to killing the queen?

I had trouble with him too. This is my video for how I eventually beat him. You can basically just make him do the same moves over and over- and attack his nose. Hope this helps!

@nickux: Your strategy was largely the same as mine has been. I just need to execute and have a run as good as yours. It's the charge attack that trips me up every time. If I get lazy once and forget to dodge out of the way, it's all over.

Is it just me, or does this seem real framey? I thought this when I was watching it live too. Maybe I've become too used to the new 720p60 youtube setting?

Watching you guys play this game is what made me decide to give Dark Souls another chance and now I have 150 hours in it. Help.

I'm about an hour in. This will be a long series if Brad insists on relying on that backwards dodge. Gotta wean yourself off of that. Side dodges, lunges with 2h-mode Ludwig's, forward dashes through attacks, parries...all keys to victory in tougher battles.

Man, I got so irritated thru that defiled dungeon when I was playing thru it. Almost made me stop playing the game, but like Brad had to get the platinum!

jason singing misfits is legit

As someone who has played a LOT of Souls stuff, the more I watch Bloodborne the more I realize I probably wouldn't enjoy it.

Dunno why 60fps should make a difference here since the game isn't 60fps. And the GB player has had 720/60fps for several years now. If you think it's framey it's likely the game itself.

Stop using that lunge/jump attack. It leaves you wide open, and doesnt do enough damage to make it worth it!!
