This FC3 expansion looks pretty great, I'm stoked to check it out. As a huge fan of cheesed up, "so bad they're good" B-movies, this could be the greatest thing to come out in awhile.

Still no proper theme, sorry! But this one is pretty awesome, anyway.

Havent played Far Cry 3, but i will be buying Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon on DAY ONE!!!

This game actually leaked(PC) in March due to an Ubisoft server fuck-up. It's fucking great though.

Can we turn off/down the music while you're talking?

Dean's an exceptionally smart, funny guy who has zero problem liking crappy things. In that way, we're like brothers.

I'm pretty sure it's a standalone downloadable game. I think calling it DLC is selling it short. I'm also super excited for it, though.

I would have thought French because it's Ubisoft, but it definitely sounds like some form of an English accent. It's highly subdued, however.

A lot of people assume ubisoft just has gates around its building only letting French people in. Ubi is super diverse. Well obviously, talking about Ubi Montreal.

As for the interview: The biggest problem with realistic shooters is that they have the risk of getting boring fast..

It's interesting to consider this interview in the wake of BioShock Infinite, since here's a game being marketed as gloriously irreverent, whereas Infinite is pitched as intellectual (or at least deliberate & "arty"). What I think B-movies do a good job of is subverting our idea of what movie has to be. A lot of people see anything that doesn't come out of Hollywood as illegitimate. Like for B-movies, they show a lot of artifice and this is understood as "crappy" because it's not something that Hollywood does.

What games do really well is to not codify practices so that you don't exclusively get: 1.5-3 hours long, three act structure, script by committee, stars you've seen before. It's tenuous to compare games & movies too closely, but also fun to see how the industries differ.

There's a lot of sameness in AAA games, but experimentation and the indie scene is way more "legitimate". Think of Hollywood as only producing FPSes and that being many people's only source of films, whereas in games you also have RPGs, puzzle games, adventure games, in different scopes and scales. In my mind, people who play games see this variety as legitimate, but variety in films is looked down upon.

Maybe this is a trite argument though. I just like to consider how the game & movie industries contrast.

"The way I recommend playing the game is, like, finish the first two missions, which are the tutorial ones. Then the open world opens up, and then just fuckin' do ALL open world stuff, get every weapon with all upgrades, and just fuckin' run through the missions, and just be like, 'BRAAAAGH! BRAAAAGH! BRAAAAGH! DHRRRT! DHRRT!' And just have fun playing the shit out of stuff!"

I found this guy very off-putting. Also, pretty weird hearing him talk about how shooters should be more realistic and interesting etc, and at the same time saying "CYBORGS N SHIT FCK YEAH". I mean, have your cake or eat it. And plus, you're a developer, you can actually do something about all of that.

Why would you want to have cake if you are not going to eat it?! WHY?! WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO THE CAKE?!

I bet this game ends up like Snakes on a Plane. TONS of Internet chatter, and then everyone just watches the insanity on YouTube instead of actually purchasing it.

I'll definitely be buying, but I suspect a lot of the people making noise are just glad this exists, but won't necessarily pony up the dough for it.
