@rorie: Would you say, a good version of this type of game would be Sanctum 2. The tower defense fps. Your team could be replaced with the turrets. You can move around and shoot on the ground. Overall, for some reason, it works better.

I don't think I ever played any of the Sanctum games! I think that sounds pretty intriguing though. There was a tower defense game that Brad played not too long ago that looked pretty neat but I forget the name unfortunately.

Anyone else finding this game's aesthetics a bit bland and uninspired? Compared to say Sanctum 2, Orcs Must Die 2 and Dungeon Defenders which have more appealing and colourful visuals.

Also these types of tower defence games are typically more enjoyable when played in co-op I find.

One of my favorite action RTS hybrids is Glory Days 2 on the DS, based on the old Rescue Raiders template. You're the air support for your army so you fly around and shoot enemy units or intercept enemy aircraft in order to let your army push towards the enemy base. Imagine one of those single lane RTS games popular on mobile except instead of using magic or something to influence the battle you just fly a plane or chopper.

Seems promising but that's a steep entry price. I'm very into what they're going for with the hybrid gameplay though.

Of course they should, Battlezone games and the two Natural Selections are some of the most fun games I've played. Tho due to a lack of scale and base-building, this feels more like a shooter with squad mechanics than an actual RTS-FPS hybrid.

But those have already been done way better with actual tactical gameplay, like Gearbox's Brothers in Arms series.
