Interesting you mentioned the difficulty; Actraiser was one of those games that was made easier for the western audience. The Japanese version is balls hard.

Actraiser, yes! Felt the exact same way about the visuals and score when it launched. Also love that Brad is rocking the Quake II hat.

That Quake 2 hat is sick

Looks like I probably shouldn't have even brought it up now. Maybe it's a cultural thing but I just don't wear hats indoors.

My friend and I beat this in one sitting because there was some magazine ad they ran at the time that said something like "we bet you can't beat this before the end of the year." Yeah, screw you. Less than 24 hours. I later questioned the point since we didn't actually win anything for doing so.

Or more likely this was recorded super early in the morning and he didn't want to do his hair. When I went to college, I wore a hat almost every single day solely because I stayed up so late the night before playing games and simply set my alarm later to get some extra sleep, giving myself almost no time to get out the door. If anyone came over, I threw the hat back on.

Watching this makes me want to do 2 things. 1: Play ActRaiser again. 2: Play Soul Blazer again.

wow I would have loved this game as a kid, wish i could go back to the 90s and tell myself!....and also warn me about star wars ep 1.

@cloudymusic: Yeah, it's kinda strange to me how many people seemingly don't even know about one of the SNES' best games (and my personal favorite), simply because it never came out in NA.

That game looks fun!

This was back when Enix was making very artistic games with heavy spiritual tones and some even preaching nature stuff. The first and second ActRaiser games are too different to compare, but between the two I love replaying 2 as it has such grand tone to it all. The second one also has a steep learning curve with its super tight controls and deliberate pace. Easy to get overwhelmed, but one of those games thats extremely satisfying when you finish it.
