On one hand, I try not to judge because I have never played this game and therefore do not know how the combat and targeting and melee weapons feel.
 
On the other, I know I'd do so much better.

Just a guess here but the bones might be a reference to the fact that both zach and york like punk and it my be referencing the song dig up her bones by the misfits.

 i  thing i actually might pick this game up, i am pretty interested to see where this story is going, the only problem is, is to play the game itself, goddamm wallcrawler bitches are the worst

 They're definitely counter-intuitive, but they have their weaknesses.  Your best bet is run past them when they materialize, quick-turn around, and whack them with a melee weapon.  It takes like 4 hits and two minutes with a golf club.
