I think the issue with this feature is that it's more about designing a game around a game than entertaining an audience... and as I'm sure they know - making games is hard! Anyways, not trying to be mean, love the crew.

I didn't realise until watching this that Lanky Kong's noises have been sealed away in the dusty corners of my brain for 20 years. Hearing him again was like recalling a nightmare.

Also this feature is great keep going.

Yeah, but goddamn is it entertaining to see Dan being tormented by a shitty game.

This has nothing to do with the quality of the video game and everything to do with the fact that they are not paying attention at all. Each player only plays 1/4 of the time, and half that time they are spinning the terrible wheel. Episode 4 and they don't even know the controls yet. The game is screaming in their ears what to do, but they don't hear it. Enemy drops Oranges, is surrrounded by orange crates, is killable by orange grenades... guess it's invincible. But I'm in agreement this may be the worst feature GB has ever created, it's torture to watch, having played DK64 recently.

I was pretty meh on the earlier episodes of this, but this episode was a lot of fun. I think the changes they made to the rules were great. As was the hidden wheel.

I'm also super curious what "fun" thing they put in the wheel, as they were being super coy about it. I'm guessing it's an immediate out of the entire series, like "start playing X other game" or "end the show."

Those are some gooood rule changes. I know it might not seem like it at the time, since nobody ran out of those 15 minutes, but this thing accelerated considerably.

Gotta agree with everyone here- the changes for the most part are great- all expect the 'leave the room'. i watched live and i thought vinny was going to comeback at the end of the turn (Because they didn't clarify otherwise), but when he didn't return and i realized he was out for the episodes except as the occasional voice of god, it was disappointing.

The reactions from from everyone on the set to the insanity that is this game is what makes this series fun, when you remove people it just lessens the fun, and losing Vinny? thats like a shot right into my heart. Otherwise - great stuff as per usual!

@humanity: I think the game absolutely sucks ass but the crew still makes it. This was by far the least entertaining episode because half of them were sent off camera and for the most part effectively off mic too. I applaud them for trying to gameify a non-game with all the props and antics and mostly it works really well even with technical difficulties. Leave the room though...that should probably go.

As someone who was less than thrilled last episode, this one was a lot more fun. I can see why the "leave the room" might bother people, but it was worth it for Vinny hitting it first, and the potential to have 1 or 0 people left at least once.

There are times where it feels like they've never played a 3D platformer before (mostly from an exploration standpoint, I get not knowing the controls with how they're playing), but whatever! I'll also assume that their setup is making it so no one can tell the difference between purple and blue.

I was really pumped to see this feature with Donkey Kong 64. It feels like they are intentionally sabotaging this game. This game can be incredibly frustrating at times, but there are too many distractions drawing attention away from the objectives.

There are so many collectables that the wheel spinning stops game play too often. It's not that I hate the wheel, it's that they have to stop to do it. Why can't someone else spin it for them while they keep going. You should add wheel spinning for every bullet or grenade thrown while your at it and make it the wheel spinning show.

I liked the betting in Steal My Sunshine, but since there is so much going on here there is barely any of it taking place. Gamifying this show has gone to the extreme and makes it more frustrating than entertaining. Also removing someone from the room where the most entertaining thing about the show is the staff reacting and playing off each other is a bad idea.

@vash75: Yeah, even though I am still enjoying the show, I do kinda wish we lived in the alternate universe where Dan remembered that coins didn't count for spins.

It really was kinda that first moment where he forgot that was the catalyst for things going to shit.

I was already enjoying watching, but the rule changes definitely punch it up and make it a lot more interesting. I'd argue the timer should be even shorter just so there's more forced change-outs, as I think the controller shifting hands helps keep everyone more engaged in what's going on. But then again I imagine they'll be seeing more deaths in the near future anyway.

As the "leave the room" rule is concerned, I thought it was hilarious this episode, but yeah I'd hate to lose any of the cast for another entire installment. I agree with others that the "effect" should wear off at the end of the next player's turn at the very latest (which could still be 1/8th of the show, since these usually run 2 hours and turns are 15 minutes).

This is a tough game for this situation -- the maps are very same-y and easy to get turned around in even when you're the only one playing. The game also relies a lot on the player memorizing where they saw stuff for future powerups/other Kongs, which is also going to be hard to keep track of when you're not the one encountering everything yourself. I love this game, but I freely admit that it has a lot of issues: one of them being that if you aren't very meticulous in your approach to backtracking and collecting everything, you're going to have a bad time. I'm not sure what the best answer is for making the game go smoother while also talking and running the show. Maybe getting more input from chat when lost? (Or, ooh, NEW FEATURE: player can pay a banana to have someone else read them assistance from chat??)

For that to make sense, getting a Golden Banana should probably be worth more than... a banana. But I think it should be anyway, the way this economy has turned out, haha.

Anyway, that's my rambling! Been enjoying the show! Keep it up!

The changes? Love 'em. Leave the room? Love it. End the turn and pass the spins? Love it.

One suggestion: swap a common spin reward that can only be awarded once and causes a lot of re-spins (e.g. X2 Banana Multiplier) with getting the contents of the banana bank. This causes the latter to be more common and means there's less build up in the bank. Or, alternatively, do all of the above but split the banana bank reward chances with a new reward: throw all of contents of the banana bank in the bin. I hate food wastage but, given these bananas have been primarily bought for a different purpose other than eating, meh. I presume Dan has a big bag of banana runts with plenty of spares. Or, alternatively, stick the wasted bananas back in the bag. That way they're getting recycled.

The problem I think that's going to arise from any changes is that I feel the end result of these somewhat disparate suggestions can swing from pretty impossible to get 200/250 bananas to anyone can get 200 or 250 bananas within the next few episodes. This is why game creators extensively test their creations but, then again, that's why Burgle My Bananas is so entertaining.

Edit: I have been thinking about this for the past 5 minutes... what if they hit 5 coins right out of the gate. Three spins, every one of them hits 'Leave the Room'. Final person spins and gets 'End of Turn', laughs and revels in the fact that there's no-one else to pass to, and then hits 'Leave the Room' on the last spin.

STRONGLY disagree with eliminating the "leave the room" penalty.

STRONGLY suggest creating more penalties/chaos:

Maybe eat 5 bananas (or something) from own jar -- let's get gross, people!

Maybe also revive Dan's rule of getting paid to take a spin (where the specific active player can set own price--from a smile & a handshake/high-five to 20 bananas)

BUT ALSO: can FORCE someone to take a spin of the wheel (with the payment going to the bank, maybe something a bit more costly, like 3-5 bananas)...

Maybe a spin or an item can bring a banned person back?

Prize 4: Toolset (only 3 needed to "win"/end the game)

But the actual game involves finding enough bananas across the various worlds to feed the hippos, unlock boss fights, get keys to unlock the caged croc, reveal more new worlds, rinse and repeat until the final world (King K. Rool's island) is unlocked for another boss fight. It's a batshit insane game that would never have worked for a long feature, hence the other way to end the game via the prizes.

i never thought this feature would find anything remotely resembling any sort of rail but it kind of did? i say kind of because it's still very stupid at its core but now it's a slightly more organized, slightly more managed stupid that's still extremely good. thank you for this beautiful thing

I thought "leave the room" meant that the player just had to physically leave but could still be on-mic in the control room. Vinny being kicked out of the game for the entire episode was terrible.

I vote to remove that result from the wheel.
