Here's my latest obsession: A fully automated hydrazine maker, complete with a chemistry lab and an atmospheric condenser that shuts off when sufficient hydrogen is made (thanks storage sensor). At a rough count, I believe this is 384 canisters.

the most absolute clutch thing about the new update is being able to designate a resource for a canister so you stop picking up stuff you don't want like organic! Picked up 2 full canisters of ammonium on glacio just putting around drilling. makes it way way easier/faster to get what you need. so much time pulling organic off rovers before......so much time lol

@sekou: wished there were more uses for Hydrozine. If they made RTGs much harder to make the devs could have made a completely new tier of items that exclusively use hydrozine as a upgrade path.

I guess we'll only be getting maybe one more episode considering all the off stream play? Sad to see this series coming to an end.

I haven't played this since the automation update and honestly wasn't looking for this to be a "Satisfactory" type game. I just make enough stuff and carry core necessary items around with me on my shuttle. But I do like that it does seem broad enough to satisfy a few different play styles and desires to get out of the game.

I was going the "explore and discover" route through the game. And yes, solving that place they go to at the end is basically the main end goal for that sort of exploration. But an additional exploratory/discovery thing that exists is if they start playing with the Probe Scanner device on the various planets. It could lead to some extra on-stream things for them to do.

Is it cheaper to make a base than an RTG and does the base RTG generate the same amount of power as a regular one?

The big thing to make an RTG is you need Nanocarbon Alloy which has a whole flow chart of chem lab steps required to make and includes requiring 4 of the 6 gasses in the game from multiple planets. https://astroneer.gamepedia.com/File:Nanocarbon_Flowchart.png When you get things going, it can be a hassle but not insurmountable.

A Shelter however just requires two plastic and two silicone, which are both first tier chem lab products. Total raw materials is resin x2, methane x2, quartz x2. compound x2, & carbon x2 (smelted organic). All are fairly easily obtained with methane being on both Novus and Atrox.

Flip side, the Shelter only outputs 1 power unit per second where the RTG is 4 power units per second. Also the RTG is portable. The smaller Field Shelter only produces 0.5 power/sec.

So setting up a Shelter is good as a starting point on a planet to get an easy steady source of power with the added bonus of a beacon & respawn point (and a source of Brad's beloved 'flat') but having a stock of RTGs is also useful that you can put them on a Large Silo B and transport with you.

Shelter also has a built in oxygenator so you can tether off it and any platforms connected to it.
