Great driving Danny, being able to talk and race at the same time is not very prevalent amongst most youtube "sim racers". Good job buddy!

Confirmed sicko reporting in.

Got into F1 from Drive to Survive a few years ago (highly recommend to non-racing fans and racing fans alike, it's incredible). Tried F1 2019 and found the controls with a pad to be impossible. F1 2020 was a lot better to control with a pad. Might give this a go, bc I hated the 2020 story mode thing.

@aiomon: One thing I found to help playing with a gamepad was googling race set ups that people use (like your wing, brake bias etc) specifically for a controller and that helped a lot. They probably won't be there at launch but not far after.

As far as I know they changed the fuel mix stuff this year, you might be able to change it to lean during safety car, but that's it I think, the rest of the time it's locked.

Also I would love to know who chose the F2 menu icon, they could have picked Tsunoda or Schumacher with it being the 2020 season but they went with Gelael's DAMS car lmao

Despite being a life long F1 fan and sim racing enthusiast this is the first F1 game I have picked up since the late 90's. Enjoying it so far, the story mode is clearly inspired by Drive to Survive but the cutscenes are really well done. Looking forward to finishing it and digging in to the team career mode.

@aiomon: I thought last year's game was good on a pad. Felt like the first one I could feel comfortable without any assists.

The best sports game of the year that isn't a management sim returns!

Not looking forward to the "story" mode personally, but I am here for the great career mode. Thanks Danny.

Giant Bomb’s Extreme Sports Associate Correspondent strikes again! Danny, if you’re reading this, any chance we can get Mr. Dingo on to talk about extreme sports with you? I have a name for this potential segment, but I’m keeping it close to the vest for obvious reasons.

Three ways, rubbers, tuck ins, and this is a very dirty Quick Look.

I'd love to see Danny stream this and try to get a great crash to happen in the game.

I have a problem with these games where I become infatuated with trying to do everything as realistically as possible which means I end up doing every session at full time. I'm talking 90 minute practice sessions...full qualifying, and full races which means I ultimately get 3 races MAX into a season before I get burnt out and drop it until the next game in the series comes out and I get jazzed all over again to try it out.

I just cannot feel immersed in the simulated race weekend if I can sit down and hammer it out in one sitting. But then I've never gotten close to completing a season.

I also have trouble dialing the difficulty so that it feels right throughout practice sessions, qualifying, AND races. One of those either feels too hard, or too easy. Maybe this one feels better in that regard?

@dannyodwyer Have you publicly gone through the hardware for your racing wheel/pedals/seat/monitor setup anywhere? Is it a separate PC than your normal desktop (guessing so, since you said it's in the garage)? I'm thinking about putting something together once I move and have a bit more space, but my initial research makes it seem like something where you can spend anywhere from 500 to 5000 dollars on a setup and I don't know where to start.

I used to be just like you.

However, as I have gotten older, I have found that dropping the race length to 50% still satiates my desire for realism, without taking up a good chunk of time. You still have to think about pit/tire strategy, and the 50% race length still gives you some time to make-up for mistakes.

I am not sure if this helps, but did you know that you can save races mid-session? Even with 50% race length, I still have family stuff, etc. come up and need to quit before the race is finished.

Regarding the difficulty, of the recent games, I have only played F1 2019 and F1 2021. For me, the granularity of the adjustment means that I was able to find a "sweet spot" between all assists off and driver AI. To be honest, I have not noticed a difference between FP, Qualifying, and Race. Where I place in FP is generally where I place in Qualifying. For 2021 specifically, I cannot say I notice a difference between it and F1 2019?
