Garage Talk 7

Jeff's back in the garage, sweating it out and reading over some old E3 notes.

Jeff Gerstmann's garage has a lot of things in it, and rather than clean it efficiently, he'd like to slow down and show you some.

Has he actually thrown anything away yet? I love these videos, but they bring to mind the Handy Clean Up Guys sketch from Upright Citizens Brigade.

@jeff I just bought those steel balls for my mom recently (they have the same box as yours) for like 5 USD, and they are used by older folks to exercise their hands / fingers.

I just started watching this stream, but for some reason I noticed the plastic bin with the red "2" on it towards the back and started laughing. Like, he had considered real organization, labeling, method in the past, and then just...nah. I feel that...

Having just moved, stuff like this is fascinating. Stuff just accumulates and it's good to have a purge once in a while.

Dang, I missed this live.

Is....is there MORE stuff in there? XD

I guess it makes sense, once there is space in there, to move more clutter out of the house.

Edit: Just finished. Thanks for doing these, man <3

Jeff "Artie" Gerstmann needs his own Warehouse 13, or for a not so niche reference, a "end of raiders" warehouse...

Jeff's issues with his arcade cabinets are a gentle reminder why I've never pulled the trigger on one.

I hope that when Jeff sells this stuff that he includes certificates that identify the items provenance. Half of what makes this stuff interesting is that fact that Jeff can identify what it is and exactly where it came from. The story is what makes it interesting. "Interesting" makes stuff more valuable.

As someone that moved 4 times with multiple consoles and hundreds of games. (Probably over 1,000) sell it. Still don't regret it and the money was helpful.

Damn I always wanted a Street Fighter 2 arcade machine more than any other. Was way obsessed with that game back in the day.

I bet you could like sell an NES/SNES cart, signed by Jeff Gerstmann for $20/each for charity or something. Might be a pain to do individual shipping, but just a random idea.

Or drive somewhere public in the bay area and sell em out of your trunk for the same idea. Take the sword for defense, and it gets a use! lol

Jeff bringing up selling his SNES stuff at the end really hits home for me. I just got a job in Seattle, i live on the other side of the country now, and I have 3 arcade machines, and over 1,000 games mostly nes through ps2 and gamecube that i just cant take with me and need to sell. I have no clue what to do really, i know the value but dont have the time to try or care about getting what its worth out of it.

I am totally with you on physical media, but on the other hand there's an inner joy to be had with collecting. I have kept it modest myself with like 20 games per system.

I tell ya though. It's a sellers market. It's crazy how much certain games have shot up in price. Perhaps take your stuff to one of those places that will sell your stuff on ebay for you. I am not sure how big of cut they take, but maybe worth the headache.

Last resort is a retro game store, because those guys rarely buy for good prices.

I do think you should do some notable games as giveaways or auctions for the site though. ie. your Garfield games.

Having a better camera and/or lighting is really giving me anxiety just seeing how that garage truly looks like, but I'm full-blown minimalist at this point.

I'm also torn on collecting at this point. Seeing some of the prices on eBay really makes me want to sell part of my collection. But then again, I might just want to dig up my Wii U and play Devil's Third again at some point... better keep that one around I guess.
