The yakuza franchise, which I do love by the way, glorifies criminals so much. Yes the Yakuza are usually the bad guys, but different yakuza are also the good guys. a lot of shit about how these criminals are honorable warriors and crap.

Which is fine, it's a fun world and a fun story, but for the makers of this franchise of all franchises to react strongly to someone getting a drug bust is a real crazy level of dissonance, Japan or no.

From my understanding, Yakuza are often guardians of their neighborhood. For instance, during the devastating earthquake a decade ago, they helped families get to safety and supply food. It's like old school Goodfellas kind of gangster. But I also heard stories of how local Yakuza would support a politician and bully everyone in the neighborhood to put their signs on their yard.

Then there is just the social status thing. You really do see them flood the streets in that one area in Tokyo (I think Alex mentioned it in this QL), in stylish suits and surrounded by girls so they do lend themselves to this folklore quality.

As a Canadian, I didn't realize how much the American spelling of "judgement" bothered me until I saw the spelling in the main menu's title. Normally I just insert the "e" as I read the word in text and never actually notice but that logo is actually annoying me with its missing "e".

HOLY SHIT YES, this has been driving me insane all day

I only have one question... When do we get another Beast in the East feature? With English dubbing it seems like Judgement would be an ideal game to bring it back with since apparently one of the problems with the Yakuza 0 version was that it was all in Japanese. It is still one of my favorite GB series and I want more please, Thank you.

Man, I've been meaning to hop into the Yakuza series since Beast in the East - and still want to at some point - but I'm super tempted to pick this up and play it first, seeing as it's its own fresh thing with the absurd quirkiness intact...
