For people that don't understand why the teaser has some of us so excited

That's Scott Manley: YouTuber, smart space guy (I think he's an astronomer or engineer or brainy thing like that), Scotsman, and all around super nice guy. He's been doing videos about KSP for years now, including some INCREDIBLY helpful videos about why you want to do the things that you do in this game. Like, explaining some of the basic principles of the orbital mechanics and aerodynamics and whatnot. I would not be surprised if Vinny learned a lot of what he knows about this stuff from Scott's videos.

*edit: Embedded videos apparently don't work in spoiler blocks*

So that's why people in the comments are freaking the hell out.

Like the above explained thoroughly, OH MY GOD IT'S SCOTT MANLEY! That dude's been to SPACE!

Well, not actually. He's put a lot of kerbal in space and gotten them back alive. I've only watched one or two of his videos but SCOTT MANLEY!

This was just amazingly dumb. When I finally realized that what was happening would probably be happening for another hour I couldn't help but laugh out loud.

Hopefully this series will continue for quite a while longer and the Drew/Manley thing (which is cool) won't mark an early end to this.

@cikame: About halfway through your comment, I started hearing it in my head in a deep, sultry voice with smooth R&B music playing softly in the background.

Hey Mun. I'd like to approach your orbit from behind. So that when I finally touch down on your surface, we'll be on the light side, with a fine view of kerbin, baby.

Is no one else sort of worried by the preview?

The whole joy of this series is watching the crew go from nothing to success. Surely having an expert defeats the point? The beauty is the struggle to the eventual victory, this could trivialise the second part of the mission. And does this mean no more BEAST involvement? So many questions. Just hope it's more than Scott helping Drew for an episode or two and that's how it ends. This would have been a better conclusion than that... Anyway, my ramblings and concerns just show how amazing this series has been so far for me to even care like this. This was an awesome episode.

I'm looking forward to a bit of roasting, hopefully.

The end sequence was amazing and tense, at least for those of us who had no idea if their plan would work, but still my favorite part was warping forward and realizing their Mun escape trajectory was sending them out into deep space to begin and orbit with the sun. I don't blame them for being worried about their incoming speed after having to swing in from that far out.

Guys, start working towards landing on other objects! Bringing the Kerbal's home seems a little pointless.

Was anyone else screaming then laughing as they jettisoned away fuel when they skimmed the atmosphere? This series is just so excruciatingly good!

Is it just me or is Austin way over thinking how to descend to Kerbin?

They are all over thinking everything. Always.

They vacillate between 'under thinking' and 'over thinking'.

I like they they say that their rocket is likely wasteful, that their plan was half-ass, and that they could have been more prepared...but didn't want to be more prepared because that would be less fun.

Its a fun series, I just think they need a palette cleansers after nine episodes. Also, they might need a rest. I don't think they were joking when they said they were all stressed out at the end.

Here we are, in Kerbin orbit with plenty of fuel in the tanks.

We should probably invent a new air-braking method and test it out right now!

I wonder how this will turn out.

Edit:

Not how I thought that would turn out. All hail the Walker maneuver.

@kill3rkin3: if you haven't heard the GOTY podcasts yet, they talk about it there. But yeah, with how far they've come since then, I'd be really interested in hearing them talk about it more.

This is one of those game, like Minecraft, where I haven't found a ton of fun playing myself (on my own), but love watching others play, and am so glad exists.

From reading the comments on previous videos on how hard it is to meet up with lost ships, I'm glad they're bringing in a ringer. Especially with one ship actually orbiting the sun.

This is something that is actually done, especially on Mars missions where having enough fuel to slow you down is a luxury. This one from the Odyssey took 78 days, but they were using aerobraking to make an orbit, not entry.

If they had to figure it out by themselves I think we would be another 20+ videos in this. As fun as that would be to watch I don't think they have it in them.
