I love not only that Jason has played some Birth By Sleep, but that he proved it by pointing out Sora (who isn't one of the main characters of Birth By Sleep). That was adorable.

Really appreciate how Ben is clearly listening to the feedback for this series while still trying to make it his thing. <3

Oh Ben, I love how you read the text, and then misread it multiple times, and then get frustrated. Mhmm. "I need to turn off the light" is definitely not what was being communicated. Or looking at the manual editing of Donald's stuff, changing it to "regular attack frequently" as Jason is saying that he's doing it too much, and has support magic turned way low.... and says... yea ok. That's good. Not that the game is super clear, but still. Anyway, this series is terrible and great, and my complaint shall go unheard as is the way.

I heard you at least. Not to mention completely missing that the Cheshire Cat tells you where to go next. Well, ignoring what the game tells you to do is sort of a tradition 'round these parts.

I am really enjoying this series personally, having no real attachment to kingdom hearts since i have never played it.

Tim Allen's Alice in Wonderland is a very different movie.

I like this most hated GB feature.

Even better when they're making jokes about not paying attention to the cutscenes, and then running around for 20 minutes not knowing where to go and getting annoyed because they were too busy making fun of the most prevalent criticism of this feature to know the game had already told them where to go.

At least we got to hear Ben's food poisoning and funny animal stories again.

Ben- thank you for showing the internet how terrible Kingdom Hearts is.

That's right keep using that guide @benpack. This game is some hot garbage of trigger events that aren't always clear, so keep it handy at all times. Especially at the Tarzan level, that one almost broke me....

I just played through this game again for the first time in like 10 years and if I didn't have that guide I probably would have quit.

It's interesting to see the variety in attitudes towards this turd fire. This might be high art.

I just want clarification now. Is this feature just to say this game is bad which is a fair point? Or is this a legitimate playthrough? If it's the first one there's nobody left to play the game with now, so I think for the first couple of hours you have proved your point but I think the game does start off slow and does get better by the end. That is from what I can remember of me playing the first two years ago however so maybe it was always bad!

Maybe it's time to kill this video series now rather than dragging on the message that it's not a good game. I guess we will have to wait and see if another episode comes out soon....

Just go into the normal Bizarre room where the doorknob is sleeping. That's what the game was trying to hint to when the Cheshire Cat was like, "They may go after that doorknob as well." The entrance is right by the save point in this room (Queen's Castle).

As a general tip, don't use fire on fire enemies. It heals them. Use Blizzard. Love the series.

@ste89: Did you fail to read the series' description? It states it pretty clearly. Even simple and clean:

"Join Ben Pack and TKTKTKTK as they engage in a simple and clean playthrough of Kingdom Hearts."

Never stop this series, I want to see you finish this dogshit game!

They said the point of the video series was to play through the Kingdom Hearts series because Ben has always been curious about it.

Oh come on, the game isn't great and definitely has flaws, but I wouldn't say it's dogshit or terrible. I think both Jason and Ben were enjoying some of the Alice in Wonderland stuff.

This series is garbage and it's not because of the game.

I really don't get why people keep saying this is a bad game. It's definitely the weakest kingdom hearts but its combat is still more satisfying than games i've played in the last couple years. I guess devs see this and don't think its worthy to learn something from..shame..they really have a lot to learn.

This was fun, I hope Jason is cursed to become a main-stay in this series!

I have a question, you guys. Wonderland appears early in this game. In Killer Is Dead and Persona Q, there's Wonderland inspired areas early there as well. Have you seen other games where this is the case? And is it a design thing or coincidence?

Imagine if the Persona 4 ER was played with such a fleeting interest. The criticism this feature is getting is certainly valid. It seems like the GB approach to most games is treated like UPF every day of the week. Caring enough to do the basics could go a long way to improving this series.

As someone who owns every single Alice in Wonderland Adaptation to film (including the silent films and the adult versions) I agree. The Tim Burton adaptations are the worst adaptations of Alice in Wonderland of all time. The Disney version is ok, though.

The Alice character is on board with everything because it's a world of her own creation. In any true (to the original story) version Alice is dreaming (side note: Most Alice adaptations to films change this in various ways). She is dreaming in the Disney version. How many dreams do you have where you constantly question everything that is going on? The only time I usually do is when I lucid dream. When I am unaware that I am dreaming things just happen and I tend to accept it.

It's also a surreal, absurd, story. By nature (intentionally). Her demeanor is more inquisitive than anything, often even feeling out of her element, and aptly fits despite any outsiders perspective on the world you may have. Her kowtow to the different characters (such as the White rabbit, or the Queen) is a representation of her age and the time she lived in (on top of that most of the book is metaphor- Carroll loved to play with metaphor and words much like Rod Serling loved to play with visual metaphor and expectations on TV in his time). To be fair the Disney version has her a few years older than the book (in the book I think she's 7, and in the Disney movie she seems more like 12 or so), and as such it seems a little stranger, but at the same time it is the way of children to generally do as they are told by adults with an authoritative way about them- especially, again, given where this was written and when. I am sure Disney had his reasons for changing her age (he always does, but even before him the adaptations varied her age from 12 to mid teens anyway- so film has commonly not had her the same age as the book), but if I ever knew it I have forgotten. It might have had something to do with the actress who played her who was in a couple Disney films at the time (she was also in Peter Pan).

I could go on and on about Alice in Wonderland, but I'll stop. I don't think it's what anyone wants, or even cares about but me. Caring is certainly not in this series purview, as it kind of comes off like an Andy Kaufman like troll attempt to me.

Side note: I love this game, but I would never say this game is flawless. Those two things are not mutually exclusive. A fun game doesn't have to be "good."

Another Side Note: The sea captain thing was in the second movie, Jason. That movie was significantly worse than the first movie which was shocking given how bad the first movie was.

@cornbredx: What do you think about Švankmajer's Alice from 87? I watched it after really enjoying his other film Lunacy, but I didn't really love it. Visually it's really striking though.

@boonsong: It's one of the best, but also one of the hardest to recommend as it's a very slow, surrealist, film and if I recall has only one line repeated throughout which bothers some people (I say this from experience- anyone I've ever watched it with always gets annoyed with the repeated dialogue haha).

I love it, though. Both his interpretation of the story, and his animation, are striking to me. I feel if you're going to stray from the book, that's totally fine, and he is one of the examples of doing that very well.

I don't think any aspect of kingdom Hearts universe is fun to watch or play so hearing people here dismiss other people's opinion and say this game is not a garbage fire are clearly blinded by their love for this bad game series. Someone said the combat is better than most games and they have obviously not played any other games since I can name a dozen games instantly that have better combat from the same era.

so you are allowed to hate the game, but someone with a different opinion is just "blinded by their love"? Maybe you're blinded by your hate boner for kingdom hearts.
