@omnilaw: I sympathize with you, but I'm tired of all this chit-chat, discussing the same topic 100 times and not DOING something about it. All these people discussed about the risks of DLC, the directions of which the videogame industry goes, embargo imposed treatment for the media (in 2010?! in the "land of the free" ?!) , but nobody DID something about it.  And, after all that talking, guess what : the business remained the same! Therefore running your mouth doesn't solve anything...a Molotov cocktail, an iron bar or a gun...well, that's a different story, if you have the guts!
I've come to the conclusion that these people just love to hear themselves talking and are addicted to that special quasi-celebrity exposure and fame that a podcast provides them. Or  they just like to talk about this business like corporate employees at the workshops, glad to relief themselves of their small time frustrations under the drunk umbrella in case they say something bad about the bosses...they don't really wanna change anything, they just wanna have an excuse to be drunk the next time they go out with fellow employees, hoping in secret that all is the same come Monday, just so they can keep doing what they're doing. Or both.
The bottom line is this: the bosses are making money, the videogame companies are making money, the PR and marketing are making money, these journalists are making money by posting the same crap their "real" employers like Kotick or Riccietello shit every day because guys like you and me visit their websites.

But hey, if guys like Pachter or Gerstmann told you all that, stating the obvious, instead of me, you would have built statues of them in your backyard, wouldn't you?

@Vlad_Tiberius: Your rant really doesn't make any sense considering Jeff talked about how they control content on the website. They post original pieces, which you can read for yourself as an example, they don't just repackage PR garbage from the publishers. If that's even what you are referring to, it's hard to tell.

Embargo's are the norm for most any large corporation when dealing with media outlets, they are not just limited to game publishers, so I don't see what point you are trying to make there either.

@Xeiphyer:  Name something specific. Because I honestly don't see it.
If you guys listen to several gaming podcasts and expect different topics that's your fault.

@Landmine:  1) I wasn't talking about GB's content, although they're a part of this massive business too, therefore they're not  exactly saints among sinners. Even Ryan Davis acknowledged the fact in an old bombcast  from the beginning of this year that they're a small company that has to compete with the others, but they couldn't afford if they had to pay for a Capcom (?) event held in Liverpool (?), therefore they had to accept Capcom's invitation with all expenses paid. The question was about the potential credibility loss because media is attending such paid events . Basically , Ryan Davis said that they can't guarantee their credibility-you like it -fine, you don't -fine. You make what you want out of that.
My honest opinion, however,is that the vast majority of gaming media are serving the big companies, corporations and such. When was the last time you saw a bad or even a "meh" review of an Activision or EA product?
Even calling them journalists is a bit of a stretch. The regular journalists (political, social or economic journalists) are way more independent and way more attached to the public, serving the general public, compared to these guys with their jobs that depend heavily on whether Activision, EA or other company decide to offer them attention.
These guys are more like promoters, PR, marketing guys than journalists. The company wants media attention so they call up these guys-these guys are happy to have some sort of material to post them on their sites and to take revenue from the ads based on the number of visitors(guys like you and me) that enter their site. They scratch each other backs.
If some sites decide to publish the news in a particular, original fashion, with jokes and innuendos, what can I say...congratulations to them! But that doesn't change the way the money flow, if you get my drift!
Their hypocrisy relies in the fact that they promote the hell out of a game, praising the features etc.,  after a month they give a cold "meh" review, and after another month they 're making fun of that game for being shitty. I expect such behavior from a 14-year old nerd, but not from a serious videogame journalist, who is supposed to be experienced. But that's not the biggest issue.
The biggest issue appears when these journalists have to take sides in a big company vs. general public argument. The vast majority of them will choose the money, meaning the the big companies, saying that the public opinion varies, while the company and the developers are always 100% right !
They say  "The game has no flaw. It's your judgement that it's flawed. Move along or you'll get banned" and then a crowd of "internet sheeps" come along and praise these journalists. "You don't like this product we praised for months- fine, others will". So, in this way, the public is never served, because the public has varied opinions. And it's not like them to attend to the part of the public that isn't satisfied with the product, when there's millions of dollars to be earned from sheep consumerist people, that are easily convinced to like and buy every crap big corporations shit. It's like nobody can critic a game and only the praises are allowed.
Why do you think the media never said anything negative about the DLC practice? Sure, 3 or 5 bucks is nothing for a piece of extra game content. But, hey, multiply those few bucks with millions and millions of downloads, and then you'll understand why, in this  "democracy", a guy like Bobby Kotick can hire his own private army to isolate, kidnap or, possibly, even kill a glass-wearing geek for disobeying him. Do you recall how the press acted when the Infinity Ward incident happened? No rally, no support, not even a 911 call. It may sound ridiculous, but Imagine if Kotick wanted to kill Jeff Gerstmann for not reviewing "properly" a certain Activision-published videogame (like Singularity, for example) . Nobody could stop him. Hell, he could do it even in public and some media sheep would still praise him. I don't want to exaggerate, but is this the kind of democracy we all are paying taxes for?

 2) Burning people at the stake was also "the norm" a few centuries ago.
And what's the purpose of these embargo policies? Do they serve us, the "almighty" customers, in any way? If not, then why should we accept them?

P.S. I apologize about the big ass text and any misspells. The English is not my native language.

Definitely one of the top five Bombcasts in my opinion.  The fact that they could talk just like a regular Bombcast in front of so many people was crazy.  Then you add in the bonus "panel" of the other dudes and this was friggin' amazing!!!

I'm so glad I was able to attend this in person.  That was quite a surprise guest/break panel in the middle.
