To finish this quest you have to shout GARETH into the microphone.

There is still a good amount of side stuff in the Citadel that requires walking around and finding it. For instance that short mission? involving a "big stupid jellyfish"

At some point in Alex's life he angered a witch who then placed a horrific curse on him that would make him uniquely terrible at frogger and frogger-like minigames for the rest of his life. I don't know why she chose that particular curse, but as you can see it was very effective.

I like seeing Alex move at his own pace. Getting sick of the Mako is a right of passage and it wouldn't have been as good if Vinnie just walked him through the exact critucal path. This is my favorite show on the site right now so I hope Alex is enjoying himself and wants to keep going to ME2 (the clear reason to play this series).

High Explosive Rounds are the best thing about Mass Effect 1's weapon system.

Every shotgun and sniper rifle should have them equipped for maximum hilarity and game-breaking (or rather, game-crashing) ragdolling that the AI simply doesn't know how to handle it. IN FOR A PENNY, IN FOR A POUND

I didn’t play them, but I knew Alex and Vinny were a few years off.

ME1 - November 2007.

ME2 - January 2010

Eh, I’m okay with the side missions. They aren’t _good_, but it gives Alex the full Mass Effect _experience_.

All the better to experience the mind explosions of Mass Effect 2.

You should totally call the Mass Effect 2 series: Mass Alex 2: Threshers Will Maw.

Doing my best not to be spoiler-y but it sounds like a question you guys actively have, so in case you're unaware Virmire is 100% the point of no return.

@vinny@alex Shouldn't the title say Mass Alex - Part 15 instead of Mass Effect - Part 15? Or are you just using that to separate the different games in the series?

Has anyone told the guys the reason why Garrus is like that might be because you killed Dr. Heart after instead of letting Garrus kill him? Better still remember that you telling Garrus being all shoot first was bad then when you saw Dr. Heart Alex went renegade so he would be short with you.

Watching this series is kinda making me want to play the one console Mass Effect that I haven't before, Andromeda, which is probably not a good idea.

I was a huge fan of the series and when all the rumours about Andromeda being bad started I thought "Meh, I'll probably still enjoy it a bit if it's anything like the others." But then that actual reviews from people like the GB guys were so convincing I didn't bother.

This playthrough would have improved tenfold if the last month of nothingness had been condensed into two, longer, efficiently guided videos.

I wonder if they'll look into the ME2 and 3 improvement mods too, some of them are very nice.

also I'll never understand people who call ME1 their favorite. god this game had so much bland filler.

It's useful to update you and your party's equipment and mods. Shep Shep doesn't need the best of every weapon. For instance, sniper and assault rifles are both useless for her.

e: And of course they finally do it right after I left the comment hah

I personally actually remember the mako stuff being kind of fun, but I was definitely having some bad flashbacks when Alex was trying desperately to navigate that earth-esque planet.

These last few Mako heavy episodes are the worst! Pretty much skipped my way through all of them.

Its fine. Not great, not terrible. Just an average game. The crew is good, though I understand some people can't stand them, the villains are aggressively mediocre and the galaxy-building isn't as good as ME1's. And like most Frostbite games, the world/setting looks fantastic. And there are a lot of filler missions, like ME1. Also, getting away from the set class powers was a fantastic idea, being able to use the tactical cloak and biotic powers was super fun.

At first I definitely loved it, on repeated playthroughs I was definitely over it - thankfully on PC, there's a wonderful mod that makes all the scanning and hacking minigames auto-solved on first button press.

And so Alex crosses the Rubicon of Mass Effect Fans:

Hour 5- Oh, this Mako stuff isn't so bad.

Hour 20- AAAAAAAAUUUUUUUUUGH! GO UP THE FUCKING MOUNTAIN, YOU DRUNK ELEPHANT WITH WHEELS!!!!

Definitely the first time I thought, "I could put on an episode of Mystery Science Theater 3000 while I'm doing this..." outside of JRPGs or games I was playing again.

I'm glad that Alex has been chasing down these side quests, even though they are very copy and paste. Several of the missions do add some flavour in ME2 and 3 if I recall.

1) tali is my damned wife.

2) I can't stop substituting a gravely voiced "shepherd" with "peppers." I do not know why.
