Alex: "We're just never ever going to get into the logistics of, yo, you were dead for 2 years. Like, what is the afterlife? What happened to you?"

Spock: "It would be impossible to discuss the subject without a common frame of reference."

Totally forgot about the modern major general reference. That's just the weirdest thing

haha I love how they are mentioning "other galaxies" and no mention of Mass Effect Andromeda

Also, the combat in this episode was just ridiculous, its like there is a setting below easy and it's set to that.

Vinnie, have Alex do the missions that tie into the main quest (like the ones Wrex and Victus give you). Not only do they tend to alter the story in your favor, a lot of them are high quality and feature returning cast (hint hint). It's especially vital when you get to Rannoch.

@bludgeonparagon: Ok ill look up the review. That said jeff's opinion on older series change drastically and I was speaking more to now than back then given how most series are loved at release than with a more calm eye given a side-eye. Like how jeff liked Halo series originally but after his favorites in COD and Gears, he cooled on Halo a ton. Same with how he cooled on borderlands but now has positives on destiny. I like the current takes XD. SO glad it looks like Alex enjoys it. With all the over hype I expected a hype backlash or him to think it's archaic

Hey just a heads up, I think that mission for Victus is time sensitive. May want to do that one asap.

Man, once Alex said that Eve was voiced by Nancy Drew, I could not unhear it! I could definitely hear the resemblance once it was pointed out.

@topcyclist: As far as I know Brad and Vinny loved it, Austin and Jeff really liked it but Jeff all around had disappointments with 3, Alex didn't play until now, Dan played them but didn't think they were anything special. Can't think of any other opinions I can recall.

Watching this reminded me of how hyper mega uncomfortable everything about the female Korgans' portrayal in this game made me feel and I can't really pinpoint why

Being referred to as 'the female' having, their importance be their birth-giving ability, finally getting so 'see a female organ only for them to be covered entirely, they have to be captured and transported.

Really Mass Effect in total has a problem really conceptualizing females (and female characters) in general. I'm just glad we don't have to see the weird sexed-up Ashley in this version.

I love this series and this game. I was also inspired to play through ME3 in anticipation of Mass Alex 3, but halfway through the game, we had to bury the basement in other things such that I can't reach my XBox anymore, haha. Keep saying we'll do it any week, especially with this quarantine, but, uh, hasn't happened yet.

I think in the upcoming missions, this game pulls another 'locks-you-out-of-finishing-quests-if-you-advance-the-priority-mission-too-far.' I'd recommend finishing up Wrex and Victus' quests before you two finish up on Tuchanka, because you can get locked out of stuff if you do.

Sorry but are we really doing this? The Krogan race throughout the entire series is made out to be very different from the other races in nearly every single aspect. Plus the Sur'Kesh mission quite literally depicts them being taken captured (that's why the player is there to begin with!) and experimented on. I doubt it's meant to be particularly comfortable to begin with. Not to mention that their ability to give birth being central to the whole thing, perhaps, might have something to do with that whole Genophage thing that the game so subtly hints at from time to time. Not even going to comment on the "covered entirely" part of your post.

We can argue the execution of it all but just... come on now. From a conceptual standpoint this is perhaps one of the least "offensive" example of what you're implying.

I burned through ME3 when it came out, because it was my favorite game series of all time (still is). And I loved the ending, but then I went online and read people's thoughts of the ending and felt awful about it. I still like the ending a lot, but the backlash (not the ending itself) has marred this game for me.

I like the ending because of the main reason that people seemed to hate it: I really appreciated the idea that, even though you can fight as hard as you can, in the end, the Reapers are just too strong. You can only do so much, and the best you can do is go out with a bang. It goes so far against the typical video game ending, in that you aren't the perfect, unstoppable hero that fixes everything--you are just one human, leading an army that just isn't strong enough to beat the unstoppable force. Bleak, yes, and not as satisfying as some people wanted, but I got what I wanted out of the game throughout the story, not just through the way it ended.

I've never done this class but I think it's great for Alex who doesn't really like cover because he can just stand in the middle of a room killing people.

@xenonxylophone: I'd kill for them to play Dragon Age 2. I love that game.

God I forgot how repellent the Dalatrass is. Then again, it's hard to make a character be pro forced sterilization and not make them a huge asshole.

God I still love all these characters, the little moments they give them throughout make ME3 still a great entry, also Bioware leads' experience in the medical field make Mordin sound way less like whoever wrote him just made it up as they went along.
I didn't find the ending disappointing at the time but I'm curious what I'll think of it upon reflection when we get there.

And yeah the whole treatment of female Krogan business is a bit uncomfortable. I guess it can be excused as an overly regressive and patriarchal Krogan hierarchy, but as it reads for people watching there's a lot of bad familiar tropes mentioned in the comments, not to mention choices of phrasing, like using "females" in place of women, demeaning language employed by misogynists.

I do think Eve's rad though, even if her whole deal can feel a little empty girl-power-y in the midst of a whole other congregation of fertility tropes. It makes sense with the genophage and all, but y'know, it's a thing.

@ahynds: you shouldn't feel bad about loving it, or let other people's disappointment ruin the game for you. i still love ME3 and loved the ending too, especially after the DLC added some additional story beats to it. not sure if you ever watched the tv series Angel (the spinoff of Buffy the vampire slayer), but it ended much the same way and it was perfect... the heroes accept that their enemy cannot be overcome and choose to go out as heroes, doing as much damage as possible while they can.

I get that the ending is what people have a lot of issues with but so far ME3 seems to be really good.
