The first few missions I ran with Quiet the humming was a bit annoying. After a while, though, it became strangely soothing. An indication that she was watching over me and had my back.

We made a good team.

That's kinda how I felt; althoughi might've the intention I think they were going for when they were figuring out how a character who doesn't speak can give you just the right amount of cues to utilize her effectively and also when you're under fire and she's just leaping and dashing across the sahara to come to your aid without a sound. It definitely made me feel more in control in those high alert situations. It's incredibly useful to use her as a sniper would act by shooting and quickly moving to a different position. But when quiet is there it's like you have a phantom gun at your command hundreds of metres away from you. But before that when traveling from base to base before I unlocked the scout ability for her I would get kinda lonely sprinting across the afghani desert and the african plains...especially if things went well and I could move through or capture the outpost without raising any alarm. Felt like I forgot to pick a buddy before I landed in the country sometimes lol.

There are multiple ways to very quickly do this:

1) If you bring Walker Gear with a Gatling Gun you can easily kill them.

2) For the optional objective to capture the Skulls, you can just remote trigger them like Drew did, and then Gas Airstrike them

3) If you bring a tank they go down fast too

It's of course also trivial to Fulton the tanks before they get to the trucks, and because the game saves when you get to the airport you get an easy checkpoint just before the skulls.

The real shitty part about this mission is the "listen to all the convos" side objective which takes forever and breaks really easily with even a single 'huh' investigation.

In the convoy mission I threw a bunch of smoke grenades around the skulls and then just crawled up to the truck and fultoned it. Crawled back out without them ever seeing me.

Fun episode. I tried Fultoning the truck before the Skulls noticed me quite a few times, but whenever I did, they destroyed the balloon immediately. I guess I never got them to go so far away from the truck.

But since I had Quiet with an upgraded rifle by then, I just hid somewhere in the hills and told her to fire at will. Took a while but she shot all of the Skulls down. Skulls missions suck imo.

Also, I love her humming!

The way I found the truck was accidentally blowing it up at the airport with a rocket launcher, resulting in an automatic game over. I only wanted to kill the guards standing next to the truck.

I always assumed the reason behind designing motherbase all spread out like that was so that if they got attacked again like with the first motherbase, the other platforms couldn't be as easily compromised.

With the platforms that far apart an attacking force would have to have to either spread themselves out thinly to attack multiple platforms (giving the defenders a much better chance of resisting them) or they'd have to take a much longer amount of time attacking each platform (giving the diamond dogs more time to set up defenses/regroup/evacuate). The only way to overcome those problems would be with an overwhelmingly large attack force which would have no hope of hiding their approach or disguising themselves as some other entity like last time.

Setting up explosives to take out all of them would be made much more difficult too since with that much distance between them, it's pretty much guaranteed that none of the platforms rely on the others much or at all for stability, so you wouldn't be able to take the whole thing down by taking out a few of them like Fatman could have with the big shell.

Finally it's a hell of a lot harder for random people to travel between the platforms unnoticed so if some mole was trying to set up some sabotage ahead of time, their movements would be more obvious and more likely to be questioned. For example, it'd be kinda suspicious if a guy from the medical platform dropped by intelligence, security and RnD in a short period of time for nothing really important. If the platforms were closer together that wouldn't be as weird.

Omg, I don't know if I can deal with Quiet humming. It's seriously driving me nuts.

Seriously. Holy shit how does a constant five second loop make it into the game?

It's the sound cue indicating that she has an enemy on her sights, but yes, it's extremely annoying! It's like her name is Quiet because I just want to shout "quiet!" every time she hums. On a game with such smart sound design it's a shame that they went with that humming. For me using her was only worth it once I got her the silenced tranq sniper, so I could tell her to fire all she wanted.

I don't really use Quiet because D-Dog exists, but isn't that exactly what the "Quiet" voice command is for? I think if you call her name she will shut up, in other words, you tell her to be quiet.

Really great episode! You can feel the tension and cogs turning when Drew plans his ambush with the convoy closing in fast. 5sec after its all set in motion it goes all to hell and Drew has to adapt on the battlefield.

Drew performs best under stress.

@medrex: Big shell, and like original motherbase as well; where all the struts were very closely packed together.

Ideally, I don't think Quiet is supposed to be "at ease" for too long. I know in my game Quiet barely hummed because she was either somewhere scouting people, shooting/tranqing people, or on full alert covering me. Quiet can be tricky to use, because they don't spell out exactly how your orders influence her AI scripting. You kind of have to be perceptive and figure out how to order her properly on your own.

I found parrying the Skulls melee attacks to be really satisfying, so I just fought them head on whenever I got the chance.

Shotguns fuck them right up. And if quiet gets a headshot, that's devastating too, though I think she has a hard time with their teleporting around and such.

Edit: I'm surprised so few people even tried to take them on at all. Their previous appearance in the Honeybee mission does a good job of showing that they are beatable.

Love this mission too. I called in a transport truck, parked it sideways along the road with C4 on the business side facing the convoy. When the lead tank hit the truck, BOOM. then it was fulton the last tank and take out the guys.

That caravan mission... god how annoying. It wouldn't be bad but there are weird things like the skulls NATURALLY shambling toward you despite never being alerted to your presence. I also tried smoke grenades but that didn't change anything either. In the end I just crawled into an armor vehicle and killed them just to move onto something hopefully fun.

This mission and the next few really made me question if I wanted to continue with this game. You spend time developing strategies, only to find out they don't really matter in some of these missions. You can do it your way, but you'll be pulling your hair out the whole time unless you do it the way they want you to. Worst part is, I was like 40 minutes into a mission when they changed things up on me and I realize my loadout/buddy loadout was nothing close to what it should be to complete the mission. try a couple more times, die a couple more times to BS, abandon mission to change loadout and breeze through it. So dumb. This is by far my least favorite MG game.

Just started playing this game again, this time on PC.

I really wish Dan or Jason would've told Drew that the Sneaking Suit is best used for night missions.

And considering Drew's play style he isn't very sneaky anyway so the appropriate camo would've helped him out a lot more. I know this was brought up in the comments for just about every video in the series but wanted to add myyyyy two cents! :D

I miss Dan and Drew at GB.
