This is one of the best segments Giant Bomb's ever had on the Nite Show. Thank you so much to everyone at GB for putting it together, thank you to Emma and Jocelyn for coming on to talk about labor in games, and all the love in the world to the mods for all the work they were doing in the chat as this segment was airing live. Beautiful work all around guys!

This was a great segment which I watched live. Very interesting to hear about these issues from the people involved particularly impressed by Emma Kinema's knowledge and ability to articulate her position. Jocelyn Monahan is clearly passionate about her job at Riot but, quite rightly in my opinion, is willing to speak out to make it better for everybody at the studio. Far better that then suffering in silence and the consequences that inevitably leads to

It's one thing to have values, but it's another thing to visibly present them. Thanks for standing with workers, Giant Bomb.

I'm so glad they did this segment. I also applaud the Emma Kinema and Jocelyn Monahan for blowing through the rhetoric that some 'management' brings to this discussion. They clearly illuminated that there is no single issue a Game Workers Union is taking off the table opr against. There is no "style" of workplace off the table, except a workplace where workers have NO SAY.

If a union were created and most of the workers were in it, they might NOT say, "No crunch". A union might not say, "No weekends" Every industry has it own workplace demands and culture. A librarian isn't going to make demands what a nurses' union might, just as a game development workers union isn't going to take off teh table many "workplace practices" in game development.. A Game Workers Union just wants to ensure workers and to have a place at the negotiating and voice in how the work is done.

This was fantastic. Thank you to Emma and Jocelyn for sharing your experiences and ideas, and thanks Giant Bomb for hosting this and signal boosting. Are there any feature-length documentaries on this topic? Maybe O'Dwyer should get on the case.

I thought Phil Spencer was going to be the highlight of the evening but this was just so insightful. Loved getting some real discussions mixed in with the shenanigans

Wow. Very impressed for getting someone from Game Workers Unite and then someone from Riot games which I believe at the time of this recording I saw a news article reporting that the state of California is investigating Riot Games?

I realize these guests were booked way in advance but still, the timing is great. Good segment!

As a software developer I am always heartened when I see these discussions in video games. Unions are extremely important and valuable for workers in all industries and I'm excited to one day, hopefully, be able to join a union in the industry I contribute to.

Great segment. Very insightful (and pretty depressing in terms of what was discussed) but very important.

I'm a huge advocate of socialism and unions, but it's kind of wild that this is the second Giant Bomb segment in 24 hours that demonises the police. That's a pretty worrying and childish narrative.

I was enjoying the discussion up to then, but the lack of challenge and flippancy of it all made me switch off.

@thekitkatshuffler: American law enforcement is worrying, and not uncommonly childish, so I guess that fits.

This was a fantastic segment -- thank you to the guests and to Jeff and Alex for hosting. The union discussion is vital now, and having it framed this way was perfect. Industry unions work! Solidarity!

Was it Riot that had the exec that was put on a leave of absence for ball tapping and farting on people? Yeah. Management isn't going to be changing their minds about anything anytime soon.
