Honestly surprised how good some of the games still looked. I had it in my head that the PS2 era didn’t hold up super well visually, but the racing and college football graphics were fine at worst.

My wife loved Primal as a teenager, so the segment on that game was… illuminating.

Demo Derby LET'S GO

Yo! It's finally back! So excited for this one!

No shade but I just think it's kinda funny how Dan and Jeff mention how JRPGs are kinda the worst for streaming and playthroughs, but one of the biggest series of this site is just playing through long ass JRPGs.

Funny how Edge of Tomorrow, a movie about respawning, is Dan's favourite movie but when Doug Liman says "I like to incorporate videogame themes in my movies", Dan is like "dude what does that mean".

Frankly, I think football player models peaked in the PS2 era. My number one complaint with Madden in the PS3-era and beyond is that the players' knees look really alien and players also run in a way that reminds me of the '90s Charlie Sheen classic The Arrival. Players in this era looked way more real and natural.

That ps2 superman game is maybe the only good superman game

Suikoden III is one of my top five favorite games of all time, so this speaks to me on a visceral level and I don't like what it's saying.

There is a tactical minigame in Suikoden III, actually.

I love Demo Derby because it's a marriage of Game Tapes and Bring Your B Game. Just a lot of looking back at the industry during a much sillier time.

I actually like Superman comics. They are generally less about the action and more about the moral and philosophical nature of Superman and are very interesting when done right. That being said, I don't know how you make a Superman game without contriving some reason he can't just fly through the bad guy. I guess like a Telltale or Life is Strange style game where it is more about choices could be fun, but an action game just does not work.

So happy this is back.

I remember Primal being pretty alright. It overstayed its welcome but it absolutely oozed with the development effort that went into it.

@ryannardiello: Dan got sent a bunch of demo discs recently (as mentioned in the video) so I don't see why they won't do any more.
