Feels like a mobile game. Not like it's a bad thing or anything, but the menus just scream "tappable"

Other than the fact this game is just an updated (and more polished) version of their mobile bowling game, I couldn't be happier finally having a legit decent bowling game on PC after all these years. While it still has that mobile feel (and some of the UI is like, a direct copy of the mobile stuff, meh) they did enough for PC users (simulation mode for example, can't add spin to the ball like in the normal mode) that I'm more than happy with it. Runs good, as expected being a spruced up mobile port, has a pretty good amount of content (and mp support, neato) and looks pretty ok also.

After working 3 years of front desk at a bowling alley I 1000% agree. Management stole tens of thousands of dollars, an angry bowler smashed their fist through a giant gumball machine and bleed everywhere, gangs of unattended children roaming...I could go on all day.

Why buy this when you could spend the same amount and get a perfectly good bowling game that comes with a Yakuza simulator attached?

Yes!!! I love me some quick looks like these. As much as I wish Giant Bomb would quick look more games, especially the ones that more hidden gems, I'll always go for these ones too.

I love how shocking it is to everyone attending this match that they throw a gutter ball every once in a while. It's like they're disgusted with the level of play that they have to sit through :)

The problem with bowling games is that bowling mini games in other games are often just as good if not better.

I would echo this. Love the ~20 min look at smaller scale games.

This is basically a $20 version of their free mobile game. Same menu setup, unlockable balls and everything.

Judging from the shouting, Abby seems pretty excited about this game

Is it bad that I was expecting thAt bowling games would be more flashy in Oct 2019? They have the 'special' balls and such; but I was expecting the opponent to be more interesting? I want a guy in bell-bottoms that puts some 'stank on it' when he tosses the ball and does a little flourish dance.

Its bowling....they need to make peopel give a damn! Bowlers are the least boring people you will eve meet, because the Pros HAVE TO BE crazy!

Oh, just needed to defend darts for a bit. Being at a darts tournament strikes me as a ton of fun. People get to cheer out loud, openly drink & talk, sit at large tables with eachother, the performers all have their own music, their own personality and often seek a reaction from the crowd after a successful set. It's quite lively. Even if you don't give a shit about the game, hearing the crowd go quiet for a tense moment & erupting in a loud cheer as the darter hits the double is a good time.

Thanks for this, it was fun to watch.

I agree about trashy bowling alleys. There's something about the whole aesthetic of them that I love. I guess because they're not dissimilar to a trashy arcade or roller rink, just with more beer. If you don't feel severe apprehension when renting shoes, and you don't walk out without a 25 cent alien head necklace and mild nausea from the food, it ain't bowling.

Abby "One Pin" Russell was adorable when she got cranky in her career mode for this QL! I genuinely laughed out loud! :-D "Shut up, announcer!", "Yeah, you idiot! Dumb Dumb!". Alex "Do you hate him specifically because he defeated you", ".... yes."

Wait, Alex getting in on it "You're getting ugly.... your face!" Abby "See, this game brings out the worst in us." lol! Awesome, loved it all.

It seems like they had some fun making this game, which is always nice to see. Loving these announcers, lol.

I love just how savage the announcers are in this.

Also, as someone who used to bowl a whole lot growing up, few things in this world irk me more than when people in neighboring lanes don't exercise bowling courtesy. I'm not a great bowler by any means, and I haven't gone in quite a while, but I'm 100% sure I'm gonna play significantly worse if some idiot one lane over runs up and tosses their ball on the ground just as I'm winding up.

This was a fun QL. :)

Sorry to be critical, but where's the pop filters and audio compressors? The audio quality on this video is not of the high quality I have come to expect from Giant Bomb.

Small correction here: watching darts over here in Europe is probably one of the best times you can have at a sporting event. It's absolutely nuts.

It's like a cross between oktoberfest, a WWE event, and something like Mardi Gras. It's like a parody of more serious sports where people will go mental drinking, dressing up, cheering and chanting but in the end nobody really cares about who wins. If your player goes out you simply find someone new to cheer for and carry on having a riot.

There's definitely an element of ironic appreciation going on that event organizers are happy to lean into, but the sport itself does lend itself really well to the format. The next big tense moment is never far away and you'll never wait more than 2 or 3 minutes before the crowd finds something to go crazy about.

The audience looks like a jury in a courtroom.

I would expect a darts tournaments are events where everyone is drinking - and it woudl just be expected. Say what you will about billiards, bowling, or curling; but a sport where you throw really sharp objects not dull round ones is a 'rise in threat level'. Which would make it a more fun event.
