Reviews: Prince of Persia Review

Great graphics!

I dunno if fantastic outrageous scenery and magic is what constitutes a prince of persia game. Personally, a big reason i loved the original games (PoP, Shadow and the flame) was because they took place in a real world historical location and spun on top of it with the mystique and folklore that surrounds the common perception of that location. Sands of time did the same; The settings were fantastical, but you could almost imagine people living in them. Every game since than has been completely insane by comparison.

I'm not saying we shouldn't have this kind of game around, but i don't think it's anywhere remotely close to a "real" prince of persia experience.

The only reason I won't play this game is because It has the same goofy voice and acting of the fellow who did Nathan Drake, and I could only take him seriously when he is playing Nathan Drake.

my only complaint was the length. I borrowed it off a friend and beat it in 3 sit downs with 69% trophies. I did it in roughly 14 hours or so, but I was collecting everything. For a good idea on the length, one of the trophires is to beat it in under 12 hours....

I Agree With MOLE, Wii Already have tons of crappy casual games but no deaths in Prince of Persia doesn't bother me

great review, might pick this up after christmas as i'm already broke.

Once you actually play the game, you will realize that when Elika saves you that it's the same as any checkpoint system. The only difference is that instead of making you manually load a save or showing you a loading screen, they keep you immersed in the game. In my opinion, what makes this game easy is the automated platforming that requires little input from the player.

You seem to enjoy playing with Farah. Now just tell me there's a skin for the Prince that makes him look like the SoT guy and replaces the bloody enormous "I have a tiny dick" sword with something more sensible and I'm sold.

EDIT: Also, I'd like to say something about the accents. Royalty should not sound middle-class American, okay? America has never had any kind of monarchy. Think back to Sands of Time. Both main characters had upper-class British accents. Okay, they were poor American attempts at upper-class British (as them constantly saying "LEV-ver" instead of "LEE-ver" made painfully obvious) but the influence was appreciated.

Royalty should sound posh. Simple fact.

And if you're gonna tell me that he's not really a prince but some kind of nomadic rogue or whatnot then I will feel obliged to point at the title and say: "what the hell?"

Yes, you can skin the "prince" to look like the prince from the last trilogy. Doesn't change the weapon, just the clothes. You can also skin Elika to look like Jade from Beyond Good & Evil. You can also skin the "prince" to look like Altaïr from Assassin's Creed.

Nice review, that game is fantastic.

I just finished this game. So much fun. Yeah it was a bit on the easy side overall but it did what it did so well that it just ended up being really fun to play and look at. I actually finished it a bit quicker than I wanted to. I may actually play through it again. Good game.

It's actually not a great game. Very easy, but it also gets boring quite quickly.

run>bossfight>run>bossfight>run>etc

I thought the collecting the light seeds was more fun than the combat.  Hopefully the sequel isn't as retarded as the other Prince of Persia games were.

I found this game soooo dissapointing. I had an idea of what it would be like after watching the trailers but im just such a crazy PoP fan that i felt obliged to get it.
Square Enix have ruined the game. Its just not prince of persia any more. the game plays boring, the dialogue is feeble and you cant die!.
definately my worst buy ever!

us PS3 owners have to make the most of games with trophys

meh. dont look that good really. i was never really SOLD on the PoP franchise

all they really need to do to improve the sequel is to add some difficulty settings.  have the whole elika save thing be automatic on an easy setting, but maybe make it a quick-time event in the harder settings, that way you can still incorporate it in to the game play, but still add some challenge to it.

I loved that game.

Meh... avoided this because of Nolan North and the artstyle. Never played a PoP before, but watched CGI trailers of the "trilogy" and wish they chased the action and enemies there; Ubisoft could have a God of War contender.
