I can't believe Brad can't even rest at a bonfire while being invaded.

@ripelivejam: The invader he fought was an NPC invasion "mad phantom" so not really a troll.

@crayotic: You cannot sit down at a bonfire while an invasion is in progress, however, you cannot be invaded while sitting there idle.

Just curious: How is the performance and stability for you pc guys, considering all the talk about crashes fps dips?

Can anyone tell me if you still have to run or fight your way to the boss every time you die? I thought the first dark souls could have been perfect other than that. In the type of game where you will die dozens of times on a boss learning it's patterns I do not have to want to run through enemies every time to get there. It ruined it for me. I played 80 hours, got to some wispy ethereal thing that was a boss [4 kings or something]. I hate wispy ethereal crap in games so never played it again , but if it had bonfires before the bosses I would have. Ignoring all the negative [this game is broken and doesn't actually work on pc] reviews, that is the thing stopping me from getting this, have they put bonfires before bosses or at least a bit closer?

It's been butter-smooth for me on a 970 & late i5; screen tearing is an issue though. No in-game options for it, am having to go to a third party program to fix it.

@gaminggumper: my mistake, then. Not a hardcore fan so i didnt know the difference. I still feel there's a lot of bullshit saddled with invaders, though.

@art_vandelay: it's decent, 30-40fps on max at 1080p on r9 290/fx8350/8gb ram. Was hoping for better but probably wishful thinking until i can somehow afford a 980ti.

I'd say if you didn't like DS1, you probably won't like DS3 since it seems to be more of a return to DS1 than 2 was. As for the speed of gameplay, that's really down to your character build.

Got an hour and half into this one and decided to get a refund. It seems like a totally solid Souls game, but I could just feel my interest slipping like it did with Dark Souls I.

Nothing can really come close to my first encounter with Demon's Souls.

@art_vandelay: Locked at 60 and rock solid barring the occasional stutter when the game autosaves, no screen tearing. I'm a 980ti user though, and have been experimenting with 1500p downsampled to 1080 to get rid of the jaggies.

Seems to work fine but I'm only 8 hours in.

@clockwork5: If you are so sensitive about ' spoilers' why would you even watch content about the thing you are sensitive about?

Full disclosure: Dark Souls 2 is my favorite Souls game.

The only crashes I've personally ran into have all been bonfire related, which is easily fixed for now by turning Lighting down to Low (difference in quality seems negligible). That's just one type of crash, but it seems to be the most common among the complaints I've read.

Framerate is actually fine for the most part, older systems will struggle for a stable 60 fps but you can always lock it at a lower rate for higher quality settings and less fluctuation. I'm pretty happy with 50 fps on high/max settings as opposed to a variable 50-60 on low/medium. I'm on a 670 and i5 3570k (this game is surprisingly CPU demanding and might be the bottleneck for some PC's).

The only thing that bothers me is this widespread issue where the framerate stutters every time the game saves after a menu or item pickup. Not unplayable but it's an annoyance for sure. I'm hoping that's on the list for the next patch.

This game is tough, though. At this rate it's gonna take me forever to get through.

@brad I'm sure someone has already told you, but if you were still wondering why you couldn't sit at that bonfire, it is because you were invaded by a human player. Its actually been that way in all the other Dark Souls games as well with human invaders.
Edit: I just noticed that it was an NPC invasion so I'm not really sure why you couldn't sit. I think you couldn't sit at the bonfire during NPC invasions in the other games either, but I can't recall ever trying now that I think about it.

@clockwork5: Don't watch a Quick Look of a game you don't want to have spoiled of the parts that they play in the Quick Look.

Jason gave away a couple of junkitems in the starting area in the interest of keeping Brad from doing his signature "running around in circles mumbling". Why do you even start to watch a quicklook if you consider something like that unbearable spoilers?

Just recently found the Cliff Underside bonfire long after clearing the area...it's so easy to miss!

Wow, the swamp looks like it's in broad daylight. Must have the brightness turned way up, which kinda reduces the challenge of stumbling through that area. Fair enough on a QL though if you're just wanting to get through and show stuff. Not really representative of how it should look though.

This one was a lot of fun. ;-)

Got into this recently with some friends getting hooked in on it so now it's just picking what system to go with (probably Xone as PC older). Didn't try the previous ones but sold on this one as it seems quite a gem of a game.

Wow, Jason sounded way less gravelly three years ago.
