Okay look there are tons of people who if you just said okay change this tire they'd stare at you.

I feel like Dan reigned in some of his "how does life work" type of curiosity after a while, but man all those inhibitions have been left behind and we're back in full Curious Dan swing.

EDIT: The moment where Vinny says "remember we had this conversation that everything is made out of everything" literally sounds like Vinny explaining something to his child. The patience and understanding in his voice modulated to the perfect pitch that encourages and makes you feel good about not knowing something is uncanny.

I, too, am mad at Dan for not knowing everything and being willing to ask questions and learn!

Likewise, I'd wonder how they too have survived this long....

For many people it is simply not a skill that has to be put into use very often.

@jhebbel: Well I typically require being shown something to understand how to do it, an explanation devoid of context will often be very useless. Even for something so very very simple I guess.

So I sympathize with this scenario instead of being a real shit about it.

I reiterate; this is also the person who leaped from his vehicle locking his keys inside while running because the windshield wipers were making a noise..... common.....

@jhebbel: Someday you will do something monumentally stupid and wont believe how it happened and for that day just keep all this in your back pocket.

Then don't forget to tell the whole world about it.

I've never had to change tires. Never owned a car nor a license. Yet I still know how to change a busted tire, if I have to. Changing tires is an everyday occurrence that can be seen not only in real life, but in movies and TV. It's quite unbelievable that someone has managed to live decades without ever seeing a tire being changed. And when you see it done once, you then have that knowledge - you know how to change a tire.

EDIT: Just to clarify - I love Dan and his questions. As long as he tries to retain some of the information he gets from answers, it's all good. I just find it amazing that he is able to have such gaps in his knowledge - a lot of this stuff you learn just by watching movies, which I bet he has done a lot.

Honestly, I think Dan knows a lot more than he thinks he does. It's just his mentality that is hindering him - he thinks he doesn't know and then doesn't bother trying to think it through and just proclaims himself ignorant.

Simple sure..? But I never once have ever had to change a tire. So I dont know how to either. Strange how you learn things through doing, and when you dont do it you dont learn it.

How dare Dan never have to do things.

You really shouldn't even be able to have a license without knowing how to do basic car maintenance.

@efesell: That's not just stupid, that's what we call a special kind of stupid, and brings me full circle back to my original point; how has this guy survived this long....

Seriously, what a bunch of whiny millennials....

Christ, and now instead of using any reasonable argument you are just going "DARN MILLENNIALS!" while calling everyone disagreeing with you stupid. That's some classy stuff.

Point of fact; I didn't call anybody disagreeing with me stupid. But now that we've brought it up.....

I edited that part out, you didn't originally say that (of course you just had to come back and correct not saying that though). Considering this has devolved into you just calling people names, and me talking to a brick wall, I think we can just stop this right here. Clearly nothing worth while is going to come of this discussion.

I can't take this... why does every video involving Dan turn into an hour of asking stupid, ignorant questions that are easily Google-able?

I'm just going to believe Dan is playing uninformed as an act. Never seen a tire changed? Ok sure. Don't know what a rim is? yep ok got it. No idea why mining rocks is done? okie dokie. Thinks breaking rocks is still a prison thing and in some way tied to this gigantic mining operation? hmmm why am I even listening to this drivel?

I gave up halfway through this QL and the reason why is that if Dan hadn't learned this stuff before then why ask questions about it now? Is this the first time he's seen a piece of mining equipment? A rim? A tire? Nothing here but a goof to reinforce the part he plays on Giant Bomb.

I don't like Ska and Reggae precisely because i don't like upbeats, it sounds corny and immediately lets you know the song is silly. I need a sense of purpose and direction in the music i listen to, so if it starts as it means to go on in a jumpy silly manner, it's not for me.

Hopefully covered in the same chapter as dont jump out of a running vehicle and lock your keys in it because the wipers are making a strange noise....

This went exactly how I expected.

The newest Rolling Stones album is actually pretty great Dan. Very bluesy.

Every time you think Dan is making stupid basic questions just ask yourself "could I actually give a good, informed, answer to that?" if you couldn't, then maybe it wasn't that dumb of a question.

People keep saying how dumb Dan is for not knowing basic stuff but you would be surprised by the amount of stuff he asks that seems basic but it's actually more complicated.

Even though I agree that it can get a bit tiresome to have him ask a bunch of stuff on multiple videos, I do applaud him for admitting what he doesn't know and ask about it.

I feel like these comment sections always devolve into arguments about whether it's good or bad that Dan's curious/wanting to learn new things. I'm glad Dan's curious, I'm never gonna hate on someone who wants to learn something they don't know... but I also don't think him questioning the other people on a video about each thing that comes on screen makes for entertaining content.

I watch GB videos of games like this because they've shown over and over they can make boring or bad or strange games fun and funny. Dan's questions don't really do that for me and I ended up turning this one off once they got to the tires bit. I wish he had some filter in his head between "questions that might be fun or funny to ask during a video" vs "questions I'm gonna keep in the back of my head and google afterwards".

Some GB fans clearly do find this entertaining and that's fine, but the fact that we're in reruns on the "sand in computers" topic kinda hammers it home for me. They had a wide ranging, entertaining, fucking weeeeeird discussion with Dan on the beast cast a few months ago about how "everything is made of dust and rocks". A podcast suited the discussion better and allowed it to go interesting places.

Anyways, this isn't meant as Dan hate, I've seen plenty of videos where Dan's engaged with the game and making jokes or commenting on the absurdity of whats on screen or making fun of the way the QL driver is playing. If by some small chance Dan happens to read this and wants some feedback, consider giving us more of that Dan please :)

Danisms aside, it's a real shame they didn't get to the part where you need to deliver the ore through like Kansas or something while dodging MULTIPLE TORNADOES. I think it was like the next level, too.

I highly doubt that. I bet the majority of people, car owners or not, couldn't change a tire.
