They had the video settings on low for whatever reason, presumably lack of attention or care.

Regardless of how people feel about about Dan in this video, the lack of care towards presenting a reasonably fair look at the game (even if it's not of interest to most of us) is the one criticism that I hope we would all agree on.

User screenshots on the Steam community page both display higher resolution textures and shadows. It's not exactly a graphics powerhouse, but it's not quite as lowly as it is in the Quick Look.

Okay, arguments about exactly how common Dan's ignorance are aside -

Listening to him ask questions with mundane answers for any length of time is not entertaining. Him doing that was why I barely consumed any West content when he was over there and as much as I like Vinny, it is probably going to lead to the opposite outcome now. Someone needs to reign him in, because though I can tell from the comments that some people are entertained, I don't see how it does the site any good to have something this divisive as its content.

And reggae and opera are the only two genres of music I categorically dislike without any caveats.

I had a good time with this video. Good mix of banter, education and gameplay. Game looks alright. Thumbs up. Was a nice surprise to hear Alex's interpretation on the classic Punanni Connection.

I, too, want to watch Vinny playing a video game while Dan silently looks things up on Google.

Quoting this because the idea is too good to only be seen once. It would be both funny and, in many cases, educational for the viewer too!

I wondered why this video had so many comments.

Then I got to the part where Dan reveals he doesn't know how to change a tire.

I'm 37 years old, married with 2 kids. When my tire was flat one morning last year, I called my dad to help/teach me how to change that tire to the spare so I can take it to the garage to fix the flat.

No shame in not knowing how to. This was literally the first time I had a flat tire that required me to change it right then and there.

I'm with ya, buddy. But if there's anything I've learned in my 7 years at GB, it's that the staff tend to not adapt to audience criticism, or even respond to it. They've always conducted themselves with the mantra of "don't like it, then leave," which is a little strange (and frankly off-putting), considering their whole business model seems to hinge on people not leaving and perpetually paying for Premium.

For me personally, it's not that I don't like Dan per se, it's that I find his shtick (and let's not kid ourselves, it is a shtick) extremely tiresome, and difficult to avoid too, as he's in so much of the site's content.

@pillclinton: I'm not here to start a revolutions. There are better causes out there in the world. But GB does care about their bottom line because CBS cares about their bottom line. So while Jeff et al are probably right not listen to grousing that has no real impact on people's behavior, they do have to be aware of things that lead to an observable decline in subs or maybe even views.

Yeah, it became unbearable. If it's an act then it's stopped being funny a year ago. If it's not an act than I don't know what to say.

@veektarius: Agree. I'm only watching west coast stuff and west coast podcasts now. I gave up on other content months ago. Luckily there is a good deal of content every week.

Welcome to another edition of "Dan hates all music he heard after the age of 10".

Seriously, I love Dan for the most part, but his musical tastes are just too limited and awful.

Dan is great, but don't let him within a thousand miles of a music discussion.

So everyone knows the whole random questions and off topic talk is pretty much the standard GB flavor right? "Dan asks random life questions" is just his go to filler mode and this game needed a lot of filler talk. Everything in the game moved slowly and left plenty of time for conversations. His character can be repetitive and annoying at times but they had over an hour of driving large trucks around to talk over.

If anything, inane pointless conversations about life while working is the most accurate thing they could bring to a job sim game.

I love how so many of the comments are totally positive, and so many are totally negative.

No matter what you think of Dan's ridiculous man-childness, the refreshing part is, he doesn't remotely pretend to know about the stuff he doesn't know about or have any hangups about it. That's pretty unusual, given that most people will blather as though they are experts about a subject or just denigrate the importance of a topic once it's something they don't know much about.

I prefer my machines to be micro.

@pillclinton:I don't think I every enjoyed all members of the site equally at any point of this site's history. And that's the beauty of it. You may like one feature or host and not like another, which is someone's favorite. The goal isn't to provide content and editors that everyone enjoys but cover enough ground that someone will find something they like. I can harp on the things I don't like here about the site but I won't bother because really who cares? I will say that the things you don't like about Dan and East coverage are things I love so I hope that makes my point.

The camouflage netting at the uranium mine is cause for concern.
